Position : General Laborer

Job Description : Sanders Construction is seeking general laborers to join our team. This is an entry level laborer position that could open up training opportunities for equipment operator and blaster in charge positions within the company. This position provides an excellent opportunity for growth and a long term career with our company.
WAGE

Starting Wage: Depends on Experience
Unlimited overtime when work is available

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum age 18
Valid driver’s license
Travel away from home could be required as part of this position.
Must be flexible with shift start and end times, and a schedule that changes frequently depending on customer demands.
We submit candidates to a background check through the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to screen felony records as appropriate in compliance with federal government restrictions.
We will administer a pre-employment drug test and physical. For safety reasons, we have a zero tolerance drug policy, including marijuana use.
Physical ability to lift 50 pound bags and work on feet for long hours.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
BLASTING OPERATIONS

Assists Blaster(s) in Charge in placing and detonating explosives used to loosen earth and rock
Carries explosive bags, cartridges, powder, stemming material and other supplies to blasting areas and deposits in previously drilled holes as directed.
Places, with shovel or by hand, earth, aggregate or drill cuttings (“stemming”) into holes after placement of charge and tamps earth to confine detonation.
Connects explosive cord to blasting cap and lead wire to firing device.
Fires charge on signal from Blaster in Charge.
General job site clean-up.
