Job Description : Who We AreCactus Park Elementary is the second school of the nationally-celebrated pilotED Schools network opening for the 2022-2023 school year. What You’ll Be DoingEnsuring the school community strives to maintain a healthy lifestyle, the primary responsibility of the Health and Fitness Teacher is to lead wellness efforts at the school and effectively instruct students in a manner that supports holistic education. The Health and Fitness Teacher is accountable for both students’ academic performance and the physical wellbeing of students and staff and they will receive extensive coaching to ensure that all standards are being met. The Health and Fitness Teacher will report directly to the School Principal with support from the Assistant Principal and Dean of Culture.
Roles/Responsibilities
Student Health and Fitness
Effectively plan and deliver daily lessons which align to school wide academic plans and cover all required academic standards;
Create a safe and respectful classroom culture through effective classroom management and positive behavior techniques;
Work cooperatively with the specials team (Environmental Arts teacher, Spanish teacher) to monitor and adjust instructional and behavioral programming;
Support classroom instruction by pulling small groups of students for targeted lessons;
Create and manage extracurricular sports programs during and/or after school.
Staff Health and Fitness
Create and execute an annual staff healthy living plan.
Non-Instructional
Supervise students during non-instructional time (recess, lunch);
Support the administration of school-wide and state-mandated assessments;
Communicate frequently with parents;
Participate in weekly observation and coaching sessions;
Attend and participate in all school professional development opportunities;
Support school community through participation in community events and/or civic engagement opportunities.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Nevada Teacher License or enrollment in ARL program preferred;
Ability to attend annual summer off-site professional development;
Understanding of state and federal requirements specific to your position;
Ability to assess grade level needs in order to plan and organize accordingly;
Demonstrated experience in the successful instruction of students with varied learning styles and levels of mastery;
Expert-level written and oral communication skills;
Strong interpersonal and team building skills;
Strong ability to work with flexibility;
Excellent organization skills and consistency in meeting deadlines;
Experience working in urban environments;
Strong knowledge of pedagogy and experience teaching strategies to support all learners;
Microsoft Office and Google Suite proficiency;
Language: English proficiency required; bilingual in Spanish preferred;
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus;
Must pass all federal and state background checks.
