Job Description : GENERAL PURPOSE:

An HR Assistant manages the day-to-day operations of the HR department. Assists in the administration of the policies related to all phases of human resources (HR) activity by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages the HR administrative functions at various YESCO locations
Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government regulations affecting HR functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
Assists in recruiting efforts, interviews, tests, and assists in selection of candidates to fill vacant positions
Assists in the in conducting new employee orientation to support company goals
Records employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, and termination date and reason
Updates employee files and data to document actions and to provide accurate information for payroll and other uses
Compiles data from HRIS and prepares reports
Keeps and maintains records of employee benefits plans participation
Educates and assists employees with benefits

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responds to inquiries about policies, procedures, and programs
Prepares and files reports for insurance carriers and government agencies
Examines employee files for employment verifications to authorized persons
Helps to resolve payroll issues
Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned

NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:

Majority of contact is internally with YESCO
Assists employees and management
Coordination between outside vendors and insurance occurs infrequently

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. An Associate’s degree (A.A.) from two-year college or technical school; two to three years Human Resources related experience; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Work Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Accounting software; Payroll systems; Order Processing systems; Database software and Contact Management systems
Ability to communicate in person and electronically
HR Certification (HRCI, SHRM) a plus

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit for long periods of time; use computer to enter data; use telephone to converse with customers and employees; perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement. The employee is regularly required to: talk, feel the attributes of objects, grasp, push, and reach with arms or hands. Must be able to occasionally move objects up to 15 lbs. Specific vision abilities include: clarity of vision at 20 inches or less; and ability to adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
