Position : Instructional Assistant
Job Description : WORKDAYS: 185 (180 school days; 5 professional days); 7.0 hours per day, 35.0 hours per week. Flexible scheduling for employees enrolled in a university or college program (with verification of school schedule). Opportunities are available to work during scheduled school breaks for hourly rate of pay.
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, assists teaching staff in providing individual and group instruction, including developing and maintaining records and instructional materials. Incumbent performs related work as required.
EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists staff in a variety of classroom and school related activities; independently prepares materials; provides structured interventions; observes student progress and areas of concern for referral to the teacher; maintains safety and discipline by supervising and/or assisting in the supervision of students on playgrounds, in lunchrooms, school halls, library, study halls, and on field trips; verifies that students out of class have hall passes; enforces school rules and regulations; insures that students leaving campus are authorized to do so, and that students and adults on campus are approved to be on site; performs other duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
We have been designated as a Title I school. Applicants hired after January 8, 2002, to work at a Title I school must meet the following qualifications:
Possess a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent, AND
Completed at least 48 semester hours of credit at an accredited college or university.
OR Obtained an associate degree or higher degree from an accredited college or university. OR Passed the ParaPro Assessment prepared and administered by Educational Testing Services (ETS) with a score of at least 460.
Experience: One (1) year of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the class, such as student instructional activities or personal guidance of students within an organized program.
Licenses/Certificates: Possession of a substitute teaching license from the Nevada Department of Education is desired, but not required. Grade 15 without a valid substitute teaching license; Grade 16 with a valid substitute teaching license.Salary will be adjusted if a substitute license is obtained during period of employment.
