The Neon Museum is seeking a Full-Time Museum Docent!
Hours/Week: Varies
Job Purpose
This position represents the Museum in conducting informative and accurate guided tours of its collection and exhibits, with a goal of creating the highest-quality guest experience and customer service possible. Additional responsibilities are to greet visitors; staff the front desk; assist with ticketing; assist with crowd control; and perform administrative tasks as directed. This position requires consistent attendance and dependable punctuality.
Essential Job Functions
Greet guests in a courteous and professional manner.
Conduct informative, patient, enthusiastic and accurate tours of the collection and exhibits.
Process ticket sales, payments and transactions in an accurate, timely and professional manner, applying correct admission fees, codes and coupons.
Maintain a professional and tidy front desk area.
Answer phones in a professional manner, re-directing callers to other staff as necessary.
Accurately record guest data in database.
Promote the purchase of memberships and manage related sales.
Provide courteous and professional crowd control as needed. Enforce Museum policies at all times.
Provide assistance as needed at Museum special events and unique tour scenarios.
Assists in a variety of staff operations, performing special projects and additional assignments as requested.
Strive to build positive relationships with guests to promote repeat visitations.
Provide accurate information about the Museum including, but not limited to, admission fees, hours of operation, events and programs, directions, exhibits and general policies.
Field questions about the Neon Museum; Las Vegas and its history; and related topics with enthusiasm and positivity.

Work/Education/Experience
Requires minimum of two years’ successful experience in customer service, customer relations and handling of cash. Experience in communicating effectively to large audiences and diverse groups preferred. Requires experience in working with crowds and in crowd control. Requires experience in tactfully but firmly enforcing institutional policies. Requires experience in working effectively as a member of a team. Experience, education or interest in history, Las Vegas history, art, architecture, preservation or neon signs preferred.

Ability to work indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
Ability to lift 35 pounds.
Ability to converse clearly and professionally with individuals, teams and audiences.
