Overview: The Operations Manager is responsible for the general operations of Las Vegas Valley Humane Society. Responsibilities include making sure the office runs smoothly and managing the organization’s programs to be sure that they operate effectively and efficiently to maximize results and accomplish goals. The position also supports the board of directors in fundraising and outreach efforts. This is a leadership position that reports directly to the board of directors.
Responsibilities: General Management

Managing all operations to ensure they support the overall mission and goals of the organization
Managing and supporting staff (employees and independent contractors)
Managing, scheduling, and supporting volunteers
Managing partnerships overall and maintaining professional relationships them
Maintaining personnel files
Tracking time for pay and providing other payroll support
Keeping inventory of and purchasing office supplies

Communication

Providing prompt and effective communication to the public, staff, volunteers, board of directors, and partners (phone, mail, and email)
Managing social media accounts with professional postings
Sending out e-newsletters and other mass electronic mailings

Program Management

Managing the following programs to be sure that they operate effectively and efficiently: -Rescue (admissions) -Adoptions -Foster Care -Surrender Prevention -TNR & General Spay/Neuter
Working closely with program coordinators to make sure they are on track and appropriately supported
Staffing programs with volunteers to meet their needs
Approving and scheduling veterinary services for fostered animals
Tracking animal data, including veterinary services, in appropriate systems
Keeping inventory of and purchasing foster and other program supplies as needed

Board of Directors Support

Supporting and tracking fundraising efforts
Providing information to the board of directors as requested
Performing other tasks as requested

Qualifications:

Commitment to the mission and goals of Las Vegas Valley Humane Society
Proven success in managing people, projects, and programs
Very organized and able to manage changing priorities and varied tasks and schedules
Strong interpersonal skills—outgoing, personable, professional, and able to get along well and communicate successfully with a variety of people
Strong written and verbal skills
Able to set goals, plan, and implement projects without direct supervision in an organized, efficient, and effective manner with focused attention to detail
Willingness and ability to learn new things quickly
Interest and commitment to keeping up with emerging best practices in animal welfare
Strong problem-solving skills, able to find ways to make things work
Comfortable and proficient with computer technology and able to learn new systems quickly
Sound, mature judgment in making decisions
Professional personal appearance and demeanor

Requirements:

Three-plus years of experience in project/program manager role
Three-plus years of experience in managing people (paid or volunteer)
Two-plus years working in a customer service role
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Fundraising experience a plus
Accounting experience a plus
Graphic layout expertise a plus
Resides within the greater Las Vegas area

Terms of Employment:

Full-time, exempt position
Work schedule is a minimum of 40 hours per week
Hours and days of the week in the office is typically Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm but may vary according to the needs of the organization and may also include being on call
Benefits include two weeks paid time off (for vacation, sick, and personal time) accrued on a monthly basis and seven paid holidays; health benefit stipend is negotiable
No minimum period of employment is implied or guaranteed
Location: Las Vegas
Salary range: $48,000 – $60,000 per year

The prevention of cruelty to animals.
The relief of suffering among animals.
Reducing the over-breeding of domestic animals – primarily cats and dogs – through public education and sterilization programs.

Their primary emphasis is on stray and abandoned animals, reducing animal overpopulation primarily through their trap-vaccinate-neuter-and-return to caretaker program for feral cats (the largest overpopulation problem) at no cost to the caretaker.
