Permit Coordinator II – $20.4213
Job Status: Regular Full-Time; Non-exempt; Non-union

Job Overview:
The Permit Coordinator I-II provides friendly customer service in coordinating and monitoring the permit applications process and plan reviews with Community Planning, Development and Innovation staff and outside agencies.

Core duties and responsibilities to include:
Provide customer friendly assistance to the public on permitting processes and technical information, including regulations, policies and procedures
Access and work with resources related to surveyor”s maps, subdivision plats and certificates of survey to ensure building permit applications meet site-specific requirements and reflect legal lot configurations
Draft correspondence, proof Forms, brochures, and other documentation regarding permit application requirements
Answer the telephone and respond to public inquiries requiring complex information regarding permit processes
Coordinate meetings with professional staff, and develop agendas and meeting summaries
Track and distribute supplemental information submitted for plans in the review process
Assist supervisor in developing procedures and office systems
Other projects within the scope of position as assigned

Requirements for this job include:
Permit Coordinator I

Any combination of training, and experience equivalent to high school graduation or equivalency and one (1) year of administrative support and customer service experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Permit Coordinator II

Any Combinator of training, and experience equivalent to high school graduation or equivalency of three (3) years of administrative support and customer service experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Requires one (1) year experience related to permit processing for a government jurisdiction

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of automated information systems, databases and software
Knowledge of basic office procedures and practices, grammar, business English and math
Knowledge of organizational rules and internal controls relating to cash handling and accounts payable
Skill in utilizing standard office equipment, including copying machines, multi-line telephones, fax machines and scanners
Skill in using personal computers, word processing, database, permitting and scanning software
Skill in understanding and following regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines
Skill in communicating clearly and concisely orally and in writing
Skill in providing customer service including the ability to remain calm when dealing with the public
Skill in establishing and maintaining routine working relationships with citizens, departmental staff, and employees in other city departments
