Job Description : Organizational Description:
The Asian Community Development Council (ACDC) is a 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to connect, educate, and empower the Asian Pacific Islanders (API) community in Nevada. Founded in 2015, ACDC advocates on issues critical to the well-being of our diverse and vibrant communities. We approach our work with the philosophy of coalition-building and developing capacity for the APIA and other, diverse racial/ethnic communities.
Position Summary:This is a grant funded position which is renewable by the Division of Welfare andSupportive Services and by the State of Nevada Department of Health and HumanServices. The goal of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is toimprove the likelihood that persons eligible for SNAP food benefits will be able topurchase food and make healthy food and lifestyle choices. The Program Assistant will assist in the coordination of SNAP outreach activities for Northern Nevada and be responsible for outreach activities in in-language API communities, mainly in the Washoe County area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Works with limited supervision and works with community partners to identify and implement SNAP initiatives to respond to the needs of the Asian Pacific Islanders (API) community and other ethnic groups;
Uses standardized materials to identify nutrition, food resource management and other related topics to adults, youth and/or families of lower income in a variety of community settings. Uses standardized evaluation instruments to assess program participants’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors to determine needs and impacts;
Identifies needs and opportunities to implement and sustain ACDC efforts to address access to healthy food in the community;
Participates in staff development and training opportunities to enhance knowledge of nutrition topics and successful teaching methods for nutrition education. Participates in staff development and training opportunities to enhance knowledge and implementation of SNAP efforts in the local community. Refers program participants to appropriate assistance programs;
Works with partners to identify and implement SNAP efforts. Coordinates supportive food initiatives;
Maintains accurate and complete records and reports for all activities, as required by ACDC and the Department of Health and Human Services. Uses standardized evaluation instruments to assess program participants’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors to determine educational needs and program impacts. Maintains confidentiality of participant and individual records. Submits reports electronically in a timely manner;
Attends staff meetings and in-service training programs at the local, regional, and state level as required by the Director of Family Services and the Senior Manager of Family Services. Implements changes as required by ACDC and Department of Health and Human Services;
Provides case management services to applicants. Monitors case recordings and manages database;
Acts as a liaison between the department, local/state agencies, service providers, and the public;
Communicates with the Director of Family Services and the Senior Manager of Family Services about issues related to case management and ongoing program development; and
Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health and/or nutrition or another related field.
Social/case work experience helpful.
Community outreach experience is a plus.

Additional Information:Demonstrated ability to utilize computer capabilities for educational, data entry,and communication purposes; experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office products (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and online data entryprograms; knowledge of Zoom software; knowledge of the community’sinfrastructure and culture, including the culture of poverty; ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision; ability to network with individual and agency representatives; skills to adapt to change as the audience and/or the program changes.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30,000.00 – $40,000.00 per year
