Position Information
Under general supervision, monitors, develops, implements and coordinates a variety of recreation or special programs, at designated facilities; supervises assigned seasonal staff; serves as a liaison between program staff, parents and department management; and performs related work as required.
This is an Open Competitive/Countywide Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill a current full-time vacancy in the Community Services Department. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
This recruitment uses a Training and Experience Exam (T&E) which is due at the time of application.

The current vacancy will oversee Washoe County Aquatics Facilities (Bowers Swimming Pool, North Valleys and Lazy 5 Splash Parks) and other Recreation programs. Please see below for specific area of assignment information. Will manage and supervise seasonal aquatics and other recreation programs to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants; collect fees and process associated reports and bank deposits; interpret department and park policies to the public; clean and maintain all areas of the facility; procurement and delivery of supplies including food and beverage service; provide accurate records; ensure health department legal compliance (monitoring water chemistry, file reports etc.); and collaborate with various agencies, organizations and other groups to plan and implement various events/programs. Work schedule may vary based on programs, events and facility rentals. Evenings, weekends and holiday shifts may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in recreation or a closely related field AND one year of full-time experience overseeing recreation programs and/or activities or education exhibition activities; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
License Or Certificate
A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment.
Certified Pool Operator’s certification must be obtained within six months of appointment if assigned to an Aquatics Facility.
CPR/First Aid certification must be obtained within six months of appointment if assigned to an Aquatics Facility
