This shop is a growing general and custom automotive repair and custom build shop. This shop does everything from general automotive repairs and maintenance to custom automotive builds, engine builds and re-builds, engine swaps, aftermarket installs, lift kits, lowering kits, air suspension, custom modifications, automotive performance, after market lighting, performance upgrades and accessories.
We are looking for an experienced and competent, friendly service writer and advisors to join our team! The ideal candidate is someone interested in growing with the company. This position is expected to act as the primary point of contact for all customers, initially greeting them, addressing their needs and wants, explaining services, collecting and processing deposits and payments, working with the mechanic/technicians in preparing accurate estimates, and following up on estimates, internet inquiries and telephone messages.
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal communications skills, a compassionate and patient attitude towards customers, be able to diffuse difficult situations, have basic skills in XL and Word, write grammatically correct, have basic math skills, and be able to learn and adapt to the shop software and updates, accurately handle money, and assist in and be able to accurately manage inventory and customer orders. Frequent communication and collaboration with the owner/manager is a must. Candidate must be fluent in English and Spanish is a plus.
Automotive lighting knowledge is also a plus, but can easily be learned. An enthusiastic approach toward all customers and their needs is extremely important.
Service Advisor Duties and Responsibilities
· Greet customers upon arrival to shop
· Ascertain reason for customer visit through verbal interview and visual assessment of vehicle, collecting VIN and license plate numbers at the time of the estimate.
· Connect customers with appropriate automotive mechanic or technician
· Consult with mechanics regarding appropriate service options and adjust estimates and invoices as required
· Develop appropriate solution options to optimize both shop profitability while ensuring a positive customer experience.
· Explain all service options to customers including time and cost estimates
· Provide in-depth information on original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part options
· Advise customers on warranty protections and limitations
· Track maintenance or repair status, fill out reports on labor and cost of all services
· Perform post-service inspection with customers and answer any questions they may have
· Ring up customers at the front desk and facilitate financial transactions
· Perform customer service duties, i.e. answering the phone, checking voice mail, checking email submissions, scheduling service appointments, and calling customers to inform them their vehicles are ready for pick up
· Manage shop workflow and schedule for mechanics and technicians
Also, this position will participate in keeping the store front and public areas clean and well kept at all times.
Service Advisor Requirements and Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· 3+ years in the automotive industry preferred
· Excellent interpersonal communication skills
· Ability to explain complicated automotive concepts to visitors who may not be familiar with industry terminology
· Compassionate and patient demeanor
· Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
· Extensive knowledge base of automotive industry’
