Job Description
ASUN Department of Diversity and Inclusion

IN GENERAL There shall be a Director of Diversity and Inclusion, appointed by the president, with consent of the senate. HEAD OF DEPARTMENT: The Director is the head of the department and shall have direction and authority over it DUTIES:
The Director shall chair and oversee the Department of Diversity and Inclusion.
The Director shall chair and oversee the Diversity Advisory Board, composed of representatives both on and on campus that represent diverse segments of the community.
The Director shall develop relationships with and meet regularly with leaders ranging from, but not limited to multicultural, religious, and social justice related student organizations.
The Director shall provide advice and recommendations to ASUN officers to create a more inclusive environment within the Association.
The Director may delegate any of the Director’s functions to any other officer, employee, or organizational unit of the Department.
The Director shall serve as an ex-officio, non-voting member of the Senate Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and may designate a different officer of the department to attend and serve in that capacity in their absence.
The Director shall present a new appointment to the Senate within the following two weeks of said committee or Senate meeting. If an executive appointment is reported unfavorably by the Senate committee on Oversight, if an appointee is not passed by the Senate, or if Director is unable to find a qualified candidate within two weeks, the Director must present to the Committee on Oversight and explain the circumstances.
The Director shall meet at least once per semester with the University’s Chief Diversity Officer.
The Director shall appoint members of the Department to serve as liaison to the Center for Cultural Diversity, Disability Resource Center, Veterans Services, Office of International Students and Scholars, USAC, McNair Scholars, Dean’s Future Scholars, Gear Up, and TRiO Scholars, and First in the Pack.
Oversee the planning and coordination of said events.
Serve on university committees relating to campus diversity and inclusion.
Convey to the Senate of the Associated Students information and data related to the status of minority student enrollment and participation in campus activities.
To have a report read or spoken into record at minimum every other Senate meeting.

This ASUN Student Leader position is an appointed member of the student government. By applying for this position, you are considered a candidate for the position and must meet the requirements of eligibility for the office for which they are running as stated in the ASUN Constitution and the ASUN Statutes of the Associated Students. Applying for this position does not automatically employ you into this position and the candidate must partake in being interviewed by peers and to be appointed by the ASUN Senate to this position. Required Qualifications
During my tenure of this appointed position, I agree to adhere to the following guidelines:
Maintain a 2.00 GPA and be enrolled in at least 7 credits
Perform all duties and instructions outlined by the ASUN Governing Documents
Uphold the Nevada Student Code of Conduct
Meet all deadlines set forth
Attend all required meetings and trainings
Work scheduled hours
Properly complete and submit HR paperwork on time
Assist in the promotion of the mission of ASUN and Nevada
Behave in a manner that is ethical, maintaining a high level of integrity
Other duties as called upon by my position
I understand not adhering to the items outlined in this agreement or what is stated in the ASUN Governing Documents, my position may be subject to disciplinary action by the ASUN Judicial Council and/or the University of Nevada.

Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with strong understanding of all aspects of inclusion, event programming experience and strong relationship with student clubs and organizations are encouraged to apply.

Compensation Grade
Student Level 2
Pay: $5,000 distributed evenly over a 12-month period in a single term
