Job Description : The Role: We are looking for a Traffic Electrical Worker to support the Public Works Department. Traffic Electrical Workers assist in performing difficult, complex, large maintenance projects. Routine tasks may be performed independently. New or unusual tasks or assignments with special requirements are explained before beginning and work is checked during and after completion.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following)
Performs sign fabrication.
Performs general maintenance and basic labor skills as assigned.
Cleans and maintains work areas, equipment and tools.
Performs routine maintenance of signage and markings.
Performs inventory for signs and markings.
Performs general maintenance up to and including graffiti abatement, pruning of trees for visibility of traffic control devices.
May keep simple records of activities, time spent, etc.
Operates computer aided sign fabricator.
Assist signal and streetlight crews.
Performs other related duties as required.
MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED: Various Powered Hand Tools Computer aided Sign Fabricator Tri-corder Various Hand Tools 3-wheel Paint Applicator Computer Two-Way Radio Light Truck or Other Motor Vehicle Fork Lift Bituminous Applicator Pre-formed Polymer Applicator Aerial Lift Truck Powered post driver Electrical Test Equipment Acetylene Torch Other Equipment as assigned
Qualifications and Attributes: Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent,
Two (2) years progressively responsible experience performing electrical construction and/or maintenance work. Street lighting and traffic signals experience is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications: Level I Signs & Markings and IMSA Work Zone Safety within six (6) months of hire/reclassification.
Must possess a valid state driver’s license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Required Knowledge: Practical methods and techniques of general maintenance.
Practical methods of electrical and construction work.
Occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Required Skills: Perform general maintenance.
Use various powered hand tools.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Perform strenuous labor and general maintenance activities.
Use various powered hand tools.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, or vibration and will be frequently working in thoroughfares high in vehicular traffic volume.
Working conditions are typically moderately quiet, but may be loud while working with power tools, equipment, or machinery.
May be required at times to work in an aerial truck at heights up to 85 feet.
Regular and timely attendance is required.
