PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Unemployment Coordinator is responsible for administering the unemployment compensation program for properties and will provide support to the Employee Relations/Labor Relations team. All duties in alignment with MGM Resorts International’s Mission, Vision, Values, and in support of a culture of employee communication and engagement.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Partner with third party claims administrator (Equifax) for all unemployment claims for MGM Resorts International
Track all unemployment claims for the properties and identify appropriate action
Respond to all claims in a timely manner
Determine hearing participants and arrange preparation meetings with Equifax representatives.
Prepare case materials for review
Gather appropriate data using HR Systems
Maintain files and close cases according to established procedures
Identify trends and recommend corrective measures.
Ensure Compliance with all state and federal regulations in relation to Unemployment
Communicates with property operations and ER/LR CoE department to ensure timely and accurate data has been provided to state agency regarding hearings and decisions.
Assist Employee Relations with department investigations and probations.
Manage intake process for Employee Relations and coordinate with Senior Employee Relations Partner on pending cases.
Perform other job-related duties as requested.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability Operate basic office equipment including multi-line telephones, fax machines, photocopiers.
Ability to make decisions to ensure compliance with state laws
Ability to set up and maintain complicated file systems, database management systems, and manager records retention for the team
Must possess strong communication skills to build sustainable working relationships throughout the organization
Must possess a proactive relationship style to deal with all issues that may be sensitive in nature
Must demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment; maintain physical stamina and a proper mental attitude to deal effectively with management, employees and outside contacts
Ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines, withstand prolonged standing or walking, manual dexterity and mobility to use computer, access all business entities and attend to company business within Las Vegas
Excellent customer service skills
Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts
Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both oral and written forms

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or equivalent
One (1) year of previous experience as an Administrative Assistant or related position.

PREFERRED:

At least 1 year of experience in Human Resources or related field.
Previous experience working in a similar resort setting
Strong practical experience and knowledge of Human Resources operations in hospitality and/or service industry
