Job Description : The Nevada Rural Water Association is recruiting Technical Assistance Specialists to add to our programs team. We are looking for outstanding individuals to work as team members assisting rural communities.
NvRWA TA Specialists deliver technical/managerial/financial support to water/wastewater systems located throughout the state through a combination of on-site work and training. In addition, NvRWA is involved in efforts to promote careers in all aspects of the water and wastewater industry through outreach and supporting STEM training and education. Taking advantage of the expertise of experienced water, wastewater and environmental professionals improves compliance with the Safe Drinking Water
Act and Clean Water Act and promotes sustainability.
Our team members are self-motivated people who enjoy the freedom and flexibility of working from their home offices as they prepare and deliver valuable services on the wide range of issues facing small and rural wastewater and water systems. The TA Specialist also participates in our Annual Conference, develops and delivers classroom style training sessions on a regular basis, and writes informative articles for our quarterly publication, Water Logged.
Incorporated in 1991, Nevada Rural Water Association has developed as the State’s leading association dedicated to providing on-site technical assistance and specialized training for rural water and wastewater systems. NVRWA’s governing Board of Directors, administrative staff, and technical specialists work in concert to deliver an extensive range of essential programs and member services.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist the entity by providing technical assistance resources to evaluate capacities and then identify ways to improve local capabilities, ultimately to enhance compliance with regulatory requirements. Write and carry out work plans or training programs that meet identified needs; measure and report outcomes.
Prepare and conduct outreach activities at schools or community functions; promote STEM education tied to the industry. Provide hands-on technical assistance, troubleshooting and problem solving in ways that convey capabilities to those being assisted. Assist utilities to identify system rehabilitation and improvements, and potential funding opportunities to meet compliance, public health and environmental protection needs.
Examples include establishing appropriate budgets, revised rate schedules, setting up proper testing programs, enhance public relations, build understanding of complex regulations, developing Fiscal
Sustainability Plans, assist to develop industry-focused STEM materials, troubleshoot equipment and processes, co-write Operations and Maintenance manual, Cross-connection management plan, assist with loan and grant application procedures, support conservation plan implementation, improve maintenance management programs, build understanding of the project funding and implementation cycle and project management, organize record keeping, and deliver training on operator certification, water/wastewater technologies and sustainable management.
Physical Demands:

Regularly travel for extended periods of time throughout the state by car or airplane
Ability to lift objects weighing 20 pounds or less
Sitting, standing, or walking for long periods of time
Use of office equipment, i.e., computers, copiers, phone equipment, etc.
Hearing and vision within normal ranges with or without correction

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

BSc. or BA preferred
Minimum 1 year prefer multiple years of employment experience working for, operating, and/or managing a municipal water or wastewater system
Maintain a NV Driver’s License
Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Typing, App use; accurate record keeping
Above average written and oral communication skills
Ability to adapt to change, learn new skills rapidly
Meets new people, forms professional relationships and responds well to a variety of personalities
State of Nevada Wastewater Treatment 2–4, Water Distribution or Treatment Grade 2-4
