Job Description : VACCINATION REQUIREMENT: MGM Resorts now requires that all new hires who do not exclusively work from home to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 before beginning work effective August 30, 2021 (excluding hourly employees for properties located in Mississippi or New Jersey).

Position Summary:
It is the responsibility of the Cage Cashier to process customer and inter-departmental monetary transactions, as well as Players Club services and Sports Wagers, while providing excellent guest service. All duties are to be performed in accordance with federal, state, local laws, regulations, and ordinances, as well as department and Company policies, practices, and procedures, within the framework and intent of the MGM Grand Detroit Mission Statement.
Essential Functions:
Cashes checks for guests within the specified guidelines.
Records checks cashed in the computer system and logs all transactions on the Monetary Instrument Log (MIL) according to specified guidelines.
Sells chips and tokens to customers as required.
Exchanges chips, tokes, and foreign currencies for guests.
Make payments on winning tickets in an accurate and timely manner; verify tickets and payoffs
Ensures security of Company assets (i.e. cash, chips, tokens, etc) during shift.
Balances front-line window bank at end of shift in accordance with departmental variance policy.
Provides assistance and instructions to guests regarding all aspects of the Players Club program, including pertinent information regarding promotions, special events, and the Mlife credit card.
Enrolls guests into the Players Club program and assists with associated services including card reprints and PIN resets.
Issues complimentaries for guests according to MGM Grand Detroit policies, practices, and procedures.
Handles designated coupon redemptions (e.g. free play, points, gifts, etc.) using coupon codes provided by Database Marketing during promotional periods.
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of GameSense protocols consistent with company guidelines.
Provides assistance and instructions to guests regarding all aspects of Sports Wagers to include explaining wagering rule, betting lines, odds, and procedures to guests.
Completes MIL and Currency Transaction Report (CTR) logs accurately.
Ensures compliance with Title 31. Participates in ongoing training in applicable areas.
Promotes and maintains a professional, friendly, prompt, accurate, and courteous atmosphere while providing the highest level of service to all guests by exhibiting S.H.O.W. Service Basic Standards, including smiling, greeting, and making eye contact, while staying alert to their needs. Responds effectively to guest inquiries related to MGM Grand Detroit and the downtown Detroit area.
Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management. Notifies supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
21 years of age or older.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Two years of work experience in guest services or customer service-related field. One year bank teller or related work experience preferred.
Proficiency in mathematical computations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Must successfully pass a basic mathematical aptitude test.
Strong keyboarding/data entry skills with a minimum of 7,000 keystrokes per hour net. Proficiency testing will be required.
Ability to use 10-key calculator. Proficiency testing may be required.
Excellent guest service and hospitality skills.
Strong problem solving and listening skills.
Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Bilingual abilities preferred.
Ability to handle and accurately count currency, coin, and chip.
Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
Ability to lift and carry up to forty (40) pounds at a time.
Ability to perform various activities such as constant standing, walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting.
Ability to work in an environment where pipe, cigar, and cigarette smoking is permitted.
Ability to multi-task several activities and duties simultaneously.
Ability to function and act independently.
Ability to work well with people, in a team environment, and to communicate effectively both written & oral.
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, under short time constraints, and within established deadlines.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
Obtain/maintain Michigan Gaming Control Board Level 2 Occupational License.
