Job Description : The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has an exciting opportunity for a talented Computer Programmer within the Technology Services Division.

The Computer Programmer performs all activities necessary for definition, design, construction, testing, and implementation of automated computer systems. This work is performed on new development and/or maintenance or enhancement.
This position may be hired at either Level 1 or Level 2, depending on qualifications. This position is part of a career ladder in an effort to formally progress employees to a higher level of job proficiency and responsibility as criteria is met and agency budget permits.
Computer Programmer 1 Pay Rate: $26.00/hour
Computer Programmer 2 Pay Rate: $29.85/hour
(Please note that as part of the normal screening process applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be required to take an aptitude test, arranged by the Department.)
In addition to Helena, the hiring manager is willing to consider candidates in Billings and Bozeman as long as they are able to secure office space in the city where the successful candidate resides.

Qualifications:
What you can offer us
Knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of information systems development enhancement and maintenance; computer hardware and software; and systems analysis, design, testing, and documentation techniques and practices.
Working knowledge of the methods, procedures, and techniques of conducting feasibility studes for new computer applications.
System development experience and familiarity with Windows based applications.
Technical skills useful to the development and support of Department maintained software and platforms.
Understanding of project management methodologies for software development.
Ability to develop and implement appropriate system solutions to accommodate user needs; solve information system problems; provide training and technical assistance to support personnel and users.
Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to lay users.
Meet Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related degree
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis
Preferred experience with ServiceNow or another comparable workflow automation platform or ticketing solution.
Preferred recent Java experience using Hibernate, Spring Data, Spring Integration, Spring Security, Spring MVC, and Angular JS
Additional Requirement for Programmer 2 – Two years of job-related work experience.
