Job Description : The Park Record is seeking an experienced journalist to lead the twice-weekly newspaper as it covers the world-renowned ski destination of Park City, Utah.
The editor will oversee a team of journalists and help the paper succeed in the ambitious mission it’s fulfilled for more than 140 years: delivering timely, accurate, in-depth journalism that keeps readers engaged in their community.
It is an exciting time to be a journalist in Park City, and the editor will have an opportunity to shape the paper’s coverage of an inflection point in the community’s history. The arrival last decade of ski industry behemoths Vail Resorts and Alterra Mountain Company has ushered in a period of rapid change, and the community is grappling with a range of issues that will define it in the coming decades.
Among the topics The Park Record covers are the ongoing evolution of Park City’s ski industry, high-profile development disputes, the region’s pursuit of another Winter Olympics and the wide-ranging impacts of growth. That’s in addition to dogged reporting on local governments, as well as coverage of sports, from high school teams to elite Olympic athletes, and Park City’s rich arts and cultural scene.

Responsibilities
Manage a staff of full-time journalists and coordinate with freelancers
Guide news coverage, helping reporters hone their beats and pursue journalism that will make a difference in the community
Edit articles for content, grammar, clarity, tone and accuracy
Write paper’s unsigned editorials
Oversee production of print edition
Oversee website with aim of maximizing online audience
Serve as public face of paper in interactions with residents, from readers to elected officials
Uphold paper’s long history of journalistic integrity
