Job Description : Description: We are looking for a Female Traditional Practitioner to work in our Community Health Center in Southeastern Utah. Our clinic is a dynamic place to work, practice, and grow. We have 4 primary care health centers and deliver integrated services including behavioral health, Pharmacy, Dental, specialty referrals, chronic disease management, health education, and much, much more.Location: Blanding, UtahFull-time Benefits includes: Full health insurance, 5% of gross to a 403b retirement account, Vacation leave, PTO leave, Holiday paySalary: Depends on Experience, Education and applicable certificationsCRITICAL TASKS

Provide culturally competent consulting services to UNHS and it’s departments based upon Navajo (Dine’) traditions, beliefs and tribal practices
Demonstrate an ability to speak with authority on matter of cultural protocol, philosophy, language, ceremonies, history, customs and concerns related to the Navajo Nation
Educate UNHS staff and departments through staff and community presentations on Navajo traditional customs and the relationship of those in the provision of mental health services
Creates programs and avenues for providing information to UNHS providers on “traditional healing practices” within Navajo customs
Demonstrates the capability of providing behavioral health services using traditional customs that may include Traditional Counseling, Sweat Lodge Sessions, Traditional Education, Traditional Diagnosis, Minor Navajo Traditional Case Staffing and other techniques to supplement UNHS behavioral health methodologies
Communicate orally and in-writing in the Navajo language to UNHS patients Collaborate with the director of behavioral health and other healthcare providers to develop and implement policies and procedures to help refine the roles and responsibilities of Traditional Consultants into models for integrative health services for UNHS
Document patient records into the electronic health record
Assist the behavioral health director with the construction of reports and data collection as defined by the Joint Commission
Participate and contribute in behavioral health team meetings
Assumes, collaborates and cooperates with special projects and tasks as requested by UNHS management
Perform minor ceremonies and female sweat lodges with patient(s) at the clinics and Gentle IronHawk Shelter.
Utilize the Navajo Wellness Model to help prevent and treat addiction issues.

. Requirements:

Demonstrate an ability to interact with patients and their families, behavioral health providers, other agencies, members of the Navajo community and UNHS staff throughout the course of executing the duties of Traditional Counselor
Uphold UNHS policies and procedures and Joint Commission Standards
Prioritize workload and keeps supervisor informed of work activities
Maintain the respect of the patient community and their families as well as UNHS departments
Show the capacity to dissect issues and devise resolutions to problems
Respect the decisions of licensed medical personnel and collaborates with them to in the devising of patient treatment plans that incorporate traditional counseling
Prepare the appropriate and required documentation pursuant to all job tasks

METRICS

Prepares monthly status reports on traditional counseling activities within UNHS
Coordinate and collaborate with other UNHS with traditional counseling.
Participate in the UNHS working model of traditional counseling services.
Receive no validated complaints of abusive practices or communications
Devise and implement seminars and workshops for community members twice a year and or as requested

QUALIFICATIONS

5 years in traditional medicine services.
Holistic traditional background with some knowledge in the medical field. Understanding of Western medicine and medical terminology.
General Computer Skills and the ability to navigate and chart in electronic medical records. Adapt to company Google Suite applications.
Ability to reason and creatively problem solve
Capacity to interact professionally with co-workers, managers, administration, community stakeholders and medical personnel
Preference in English. Navajo speaking applicants.

As a Tribal Organization the Utah Navajo Health System, Inc. (UNHS) treats patients with high risk and underlying chronic medical conditions. Therefore, UNHS requires its employees to show proof of immunization prior to their employment with UNHS or during their employment. Below is a list of immunizations/vaccinations required to be employed or to continue employment with UNHS.The immunizations/vaccinations include but not limited to following:

MMR (Measles Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): Documentation of two MMR vaccines (OR) Documentation of MMR titers.
Complete Hepatitis B vaccine series (3 doses), documented proof of titers indicating immunity, or a declination that may be signed upon arrival.
Proof of up-to-date PPD skin testing, if previously negative (OR) Proof of positive PPD skin test with the most recent chest x-ray and treatment history.
Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap).
Varicella titers, history of varicella or varicella immunization series.
Influenza vaccine for the current year.
COVID-19 vaccine
Any other vaccinations as requested.
