Division Manager Simulation and Technology

Position Summary:

The simulation center manager designs, develops, facilitates clinical simulation, and operates the simulation center. Develops educational experiences in collaboration with the Division Clinical Education team. Has expertise in simulation equipment set-up, maintenance, and use. Organizes the simulation lab schedule to provide optimum utilization and efficiency. The simulation lab manager assists the Division Simulation Director in education-related activities.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Develops and maintains relationships with simulation lab stakeholders in order to develop a meaningful program of instruction.

2. Prioritizes activities in order to optimize simulation lab use, and effectiveness.

3. Maintains simulation lab equipment in working order utilizing appropriate resources.

4. Set-Up simulation according to design parameters

5. Provides technical support for the use of simulation equipment, including training users, and problem solving with scenario designers, and designs basic orientation simulation scenarios.

6. Evaluates use of simulation lab, and makes recommendations for new equipment, and other resources to support the education of students, faculty, and staff.

Expert on the use of the simulation manikins (Sim Man/Child/Infant/SimMom, Vital Sim Adult/Child/Infant, Birthing Noelle and other high fidelity technology.

Establishes and updates simulation policies and standard practices related to the use of simulation technology.
Develops, presents and refines scenarios utilized by Program Directors and faculty members for simulation experiences using role playing, props, and dialogue to create a realistic learning environment.
Implements data collection and analysis on simulation effectiveness as needed for clinical simulation accreditation.
Develops and maintains Simulation Safety Manuals and ensures confidentiality regarding issues related to the simulation program.
Communicates issues to the Division Director of Simulation.
Maintains Simulation Centers scheduling system and usage log.
Maintains simulation supply inventory.
Develops and administers Simulation Laboratory budget.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

Bachelors in health-related field or within 6 months of hire, Master’s degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in an acute care facility required.
2+ years of experience in education with simulation experience required.

Licensure, Certifications, Training:

Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation.

American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support if the center is designated as the AHA training center.
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator preferred.
