Job Description : I am conducting a confidential search for a Manufacturing Operations Manager for one of America’s premier products manufacture. They specialize in designing, manufacturing, and installing cutting-edge sheds, prefab studios, magical playsets, and beautiful outdoor structures. This position will report to the Plant Manager and be a member of the Production Leadership Team. The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing the operations within the mill department, continuously improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale. This includes supporting day-to-day operations, the development of team members, and continuous improvement. The Operations Manager must provide strong leadership to drive world-class performance and a highly engaged culture.Key Responsibilities: Proven ability to lead, manage and develop as many as 30 individual contributors.Provide a safe and best-in-class organized work environment within the mill, yard operations, and support 5S Lean overall.Must have proven skills with Lean Daily Management (LDL) or KPI’s to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.Ensure the team is properly trained and scheduled to meet production levels in a cost-efficient manner.Measure, monitor, and drive improvement in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale.Convey clearly defined expectations of performance, efficiency, and quality standards to individual contributors and management.Initiate and execute coaching, development, and evaluation of performance for individual contributors by working with Human Resources and management.Aggressively approach recruiting and staffing with the idea of “top grading” the team and new hires.Guarantee machinery is properly maintained and continuously improves availability.Manage inventory to verify the material is rotated and participates in cycle counts, ensuring accuracy.Monitor output, cut/yields, and scrap to efficiently utilize resources with active leadership to drive improvement.Participate and lead meetings related to daily activities, safety, and department progression/status.Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s in Engineering or Management with 1-2 years leadership experience preferred, or High School Diploma / GED with 5 years of leadership experience, preferably but not required, within a mill/woodworking operation.Proven ability to lead, manage and develop individual contributors. professional communication skills, ability to provide information to all levels of the organization.Exhibit proficiency to manage multiple tasks, prioritize to meet deadlines, and apply business math knowledge under minimal supervision.Leadership Responsibilities: This position hosts direct leadership responsibilities for 30 individual contributors and temporary employees.
