Position : Member Services Director
Job Description : As a small (seven employee) professional association, we each serve multiple purposes within the organization. This position handles the membership facing side of our operations including a bit of marketing/sales, customer support and event management. The ability to manage the sales process for potential association members, customer service for the existing membership and representing the public image of the organization in person and writing are the important ability for a successful applicant. From a toolbox standpoint, additional skills we are looking for are an understanding of and ability to manage a basic social media program, public web site facing content management (non-programming) and industry press releases development. This position also manages or helps manage several domestic and international events a year for our membership, so an understanding of venue coordination, registration oversight and on-site event management will be necessary.As you can see, this position is a bit of a jack-of-all-trades. We are, of course, not going to find anyone who checks all these boxes. But what we are looking for is someone who checks quite a few and has the ability to quickly develop the skills to handle the rest. If you are looking for a job where ever day looks like the last and your boss spends a lot of time micromanaging you, this is not your gig. On the other hand, if you are creative, like variety in your job and the ability to take ownership of your work, then this might be a good fit.The job also requires strong computer skills, primarily with MS office and specifically with Excel, functional presentation skills and healthy interpersonal relationship skills. A background in association management or travel would be a plus. Some event planning experience would also be of benefit. But primarily we are looking for the proper personality to fit into our team.
