Minimum Qualifications
Degree from college or university in Education, Special Education or related field. Ability to take leadership role and work in a team environment. Must be comfortable using computers and have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and Google Meet platforms.

Desired Qualifications
ASD certified with at least 2 years’ experience leading a classroom with individuals with ASD. CPI training preferred. Current CPR/ First Aid certification preferred.

Position Purpose
Summer Camp Teachers are responsible for leading the safety and engagement of campers with autism spectrum disorders at OUCARES summer camps. They must supervise, plan, implement and evaluate daily camp curriculum and activities for individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. This includes overseeing multiple practicum students to teach them how to be effective educators for children with autism. Camp teachers must lead a classroom team and communicate well with staff, practicum students, and administrators. Furthermore, teachers must be able to develop and manage multiple behavioral interventions to address the diverse needs of campers with autism. Camp runs Monday-Friday, June 20-August 12 (no camp Monday, July 4th) from 9am-3pm.

Job Duties
Keep a clean and safe camp environment at all times, following all OU protocols to keep staff and campers safe and healthy (this includes but is not limited to wearing masks, social distancing, rigorous cleaning and sanitizing procedures, etc.)
Stay committed to your work schedule, including attending regular staff meetings.
Work as a team with lead teachers, administrators, and practicum students to communicate and implement daily camp activities for campers with autism spectrum disorders. This includes assisting with the camp curriculum, setting up activities, carrying out and cleaning up after all camp activities.
Create and implement positive behavior supports for the campers.
Initiating interactions and engaging with campers in all activities.
Ensure general safety at all times.
Adhere to all OU and OUCARES Summer Day Camp policies and procedures.
