Job Description : JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Peer Support SpecialistSalary: $26.44 per hour (Non-exempt) Shift: Varies (40 hrs.) We are a highly relational organization, committed to knowing one another and knowing our participants.We are decidedly not neutral on matters of inclusion, diversity, equality, and anti- racism; we strive to be a place of refuge and safety for the marginalized.THE POSITION: A Peer Support Specialist acts as a voice for the needs of participants within the agency and in the community, offering encouragement throughout clients’ time at the village. Tasks performed by Peer Support Specialists may include assisting their peers in articulating their goals for recovery, learning and practicing new skills, helping them monitor their progress, supporting them in their treatment, modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on the specialist’s own recovery experience, and supporting them in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Process resident/client intakes and discharges with completion of associated forms.Maintain effective communication with all staff, programs, and community partners.Maintain safe environment for staff and participantsAttend supervision, staff meetings & any appropriate community professional meetings.Ensure that all areas utilized by participants and staff are clean, organized, and left in an orderly manner during and after each shift. This may include, but not limited to, cleaning waste, soiled clothing, dirty dishes, etc.Adhere to all state and federal privacy and security regulations applicable to the program, and to All Good Northwest’s policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security.DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES: Participate in compliance, quality assurance and quality improvement activities as directed.Perform other duties as assigned.SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Maintain calm and compassion under pressureAbility to display a non-judgmental attitude, and a willingness to learn new skills.Demonstrate ability to work independently, problem solve, and complete tasks in a timely manner.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.Ability to work in an environment where people may be verbally or physically hostile.Ability to work courteously with the general public, participants, and co-workers.Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork.Ability to learn and apply training instruction.Professional maintenance of appropriate boundaries.Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform assigned tasks.Physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift heavy objects.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Understanding of Housing First and Harm Reduction models.Must possess a current drivers license.Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check.Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, political affiliation, cultural backgrounds, life-styles, and sexual orientations and treat each individual with respect and dignity.Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination. We work with a vulnerable population. The safety and wellbeing of our participants and staff is of upmost importance to All Good Northwest.
