Job Description : The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) is seeking a public relations program manager to oversee its public relations campaigns, social media channels, member forum communications platform and strategic messaging. The program manager is the association’s advocate for messaging and other communication initiatives as well as the primary media contact for external media inquiries. This position serves as a public relations consultant for internal departments, provides writing assistance and spearheads strategic communications recommendations. Additionally, this position develops and oversees ASRT’s social media strategies and gathers data to measure ASRT’s social media success. The program manager also plans, researches, writes and edits internal and external messaging for the ASRT and the ASRT Foundation. In addition, the program manager writes scripts and speeches for Society events and video projects.
Responsibilities:

Develop and manage public relations and communications campaigns to promote the ASRT and the ASRT Foundation.
Identify strategic goals and measurable objectives to promote association activities.
Manage ASRT’s social media channels and member communications forum.
Prepare monthly and quarterly social media reports and quarterly earned media reports.
Build positive relationships with trade and mainstream media outlets.
Write news articles and announcements for ASRT publications and website.
Write speeches and scripts for Society events and video projects.
Serve as part of the ASRT crisis communications team.
Write and edit materials to promote the Society’s federal and state legislative and regulatory advocacy initiatives.
Direct the work of contract labor.
Edit and proofread documents to ensure they follow ASRT style.
Monitor media coverage of ASRT and the ASRT Foundation to assess effectiveness of media relations efforts.

Successful Candidates Must Meet the Following Criteria:

Minimum bachelor’s degree in related field such as communications, public relations or marketing
Three to five years’ experience in media, community relations, social media, video and legislative outreach programs
Social media acumen and strategic thinking.
High level of political diplomacy, tact and discretion.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to articulate verbally and in writing at a high level.
Understand the importance of meeting strict deadlines
Build strategic alliances internally and externally as well as a network of media contacts.
Follow industry trends, anticipate potential opportunities and respond appropriately when necessary.
High attention to detail and commitment to success.
Experience in a nonprofit or membership organization preferred.
