Quality Assurance Supervisor
LOCATION
Chico, CA
REPORTS TO
Manager, Quality Assurance
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure timely release of all beverage finished good products that are within specification and meets Smucker Quality Standards.
Perform environmental swabbing.
Perform documentation review of production quality checks and other paperwork associated with FSMA Food Safety Plans, internal quality requirements and BRC regulations.
Hold investigation, creation, updating, close out and timely disposition of all holds.
Review of facility quality SOP’s and make updates and improvements as needed.
Ensure all applicable beverage finished goods testing is performed when needed.
Monthly beverage finished goods holds reconciliation to ensure product on hold matches what shows is on hold in DLx and can be physically identified onsite.
Owner of sites Organic and Non-GMO Programs.
Owner of all formulation specification and trade specification reviews and new specification development in relation to all ingredient and finished products in both processing facilities.
Updates documents and procedures and communicates changes, as necessary.
Fully understands all quality tests performed by operators and how to analyze data.
Assist and support Quality Assurance Manager with Quality Key Element program, regulatory and company trainings, quality continuous improvement, food safety and/or quality programs (FSMA, BRC), analyzing consumer complaints and other quality department areas of concentration as needed.
Provides backup support for QA Manager, QA Specialist and QA-Sanitation Technician.
Perform monthly facility inspections and audits.
Work modified shifts as needed to support the operation.
Will act as BRC coordinator in the case of an extended absence by the QA Manager.
Other duties as assigned by the QA Manager, Corporate QA and/or the Plant Manager.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Education
A Bachelor’s Degree is required: a science degree is preferred
Experience
At least one year of experience in food manufacturing, operations, food science, or QC/QA is required; co-ops and internships will be considered
Other
Strong organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Effective presentation, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize actions to help meet plant objectives and long-term vision
Ability to inclusively teach, lead and develop others
Willing to work flexible hours (weekends, off shifts) as needed
Proficient in Excel and Word
Self-motivated and can work independently with minimal direct supervision
Ability to meet all safety expectations including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safe practices
Ability to lift objects up to 40 lbs. occasionally
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
