Job Description : DESCRIPTION:
This position will focus on enforcement of regulations related to usage of trails and open space facilities. Additional responsibilities will include monitoring, outreach, and education at other Basin Recreation outdoor recreation facilities including parks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
v Outreach to and education of public users of the Snyderville Basin trail and open space system with a focus on customer service.
v Perform patrols in motor vehicles, on foot, and with other methods of recreational transport to monitor for violations of Basin Recreation’s regulations.
v Monitor and catalog parking violations using a software system and issue tickets or tow vehicles when necessary.
v Coordinate the process of contesting tickets. This will include responding to questions from the public about their tickets, scheduling hearings with the administrative law judge, and organizing information gathered at the time of violation for the judge’s review beforehand.
v Appear in administrative hearings to defend contested tickets. This will require preparation of photo and written evidence in support of the reasoning for the issued ticket.
v Coordinate with volunteers to assist in monitoring and patrol of the trail system.
v Assist in developing signage and other educational materials related to the communication of regulations.
v Collect data through in-person surveys to assist in the development of policies and to inform management decision making.
v Document and report maintenance issues at all outdoor Basin Recreation facilities to appropriate staff team.
v Coordinate maintenance of tools and vehicles necessary for the performance of patrol duties.
v Assist with snow removal and plowing as needed to support the Trails Team.
v Assist with trailhead building maintenance and custodial duties as needed to support the Trails Team.
v Complete all tasks with safety as a top priority
v Perform all duties while consistently upholding and demonstrating the District’s Core Values as stated in the Policies and Procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
v Twenty-one (21) years of age or older
v High school diploma or equivalent
v Experience enforcing regulations in parks, natural resources, or outdoor recreation settings, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the above described work.
v Valid U.S. driver’s license
v CPR and First Aid certification within six (6) months of hire
Desirable:
v Experience in code enforcement, parking enforcement, or traditional law enforcement.
v Education or experience in outdoor recreation management.
v Conflict management or de-escalation training.
v General understanding of the trail and open space system in the greater Park City area, specifically trails within the Snyderville Basin.
v Wilderness First Aid certification.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
v If offered a position with the District, employment will be conditioned on the results of a background check.
This position is subject to pre-employment drug and random drug testing.
