We are looking for a Superintendent – Shovel and Drill Mine Maintenance – based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The role is fundamental to our organization and leadership team, responsible for connecting people and processes both horizontally and vertically across the organization.
It is a great opportunity for an experienced professional to lead an operational team in the safe and stable delivery of our business goals. The successful candidate will proactively manage the balance of safety, production, and cost expectations, near-term and growth opportunities while ensuring that our values of care, curiosity, and courage are at the forefront. They will also play a key role in the work we are doing with the Rio Tinto Safe Production System and will drive efficiency and effective application of our asset management strategy and business plans, to safely deliver the maintenance department’s objectives.
Reporting to the Manager – Mine Maintenance Execution, you will be:

Leading a large and diverse team of maintenance professionals, to ensure safe delivery of work across all areas of the Field maintenance geographical area – Shovel, Drill, and Unit sub-assets.
Delivering continuous improvement, particularly in the area of safety to support our goal of zero harm
Driving an inclusive work culture that values engagement and diversity
Supporting the development of business skills and leadership behaviors with peers and direct reports
Contributing to the development of and delivering departmental and operational plan objectives
Partnering with business functions to deliver shared metrics
Collaborating with global and regional asset maintenance teams and other internal service providers to deliver on improvement needs of the business

What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

+10 years of experience in mining, processing or manufacturing maintenance roles
+5 years direct processing/maintenance operational leadership
+2 years contractor management
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement world-class safety and production management systems for development, construction, and production operations.
Demonstrated ability to implement and manage continuous improvement processes
Commercial acumen commensurate with role requirements
Effective and authoritative communication and coaching skills
Effective time management and personal organizational skills
Demonstrate an open-minded genuine curiosity towards understanding the needs of business and the impact of applied solutions
Able to work alone and to take and apply feedback
Proven stakeholder management experience
