YOUR POSITION WITH TNC

The Utah Donor Relations Manager (DRM) is primarily responsible for developing middle-donor gifts and identifying major and planned gift prospects. The DRM will work with senior fundraisers on revenue growth strategies for annual and campaign support. The DRM uses the Conservancy’s donor database (CRM) to update donor information, produce reports, perform analysis, and track and cultivate donors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The DRM is responsible for a portfolio of middle-donors and the cultivation and solicitation of donors who are capable of major and/or deferred gifts. Middle-donor contributions can range from $1,000-$25,000, or more. They will create an annual donor management plan that will identify and execute revenue growth strategies. This is an out-the-door fundraising position that will meet with current and prospective donors and document donor information in CRM. The DRM may manage a portfolio of foundations and corporations with the responsibility of grant writing, grant reports and corporate registry, and will manage the internal process of gathering information for these grants and reports. They will manage their portfolio’s annual renewal process and donor acknowledgements and identify/solicit campaign gifts and steward these relationships. The DRM will support donor engagement activities, including, but not limited to, Conservancy Voices, donor fieldtrips, and other donor events.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

Annual fundraising goal of $250,000 or more, along with a goal for bequest notifications.
Manages and solicits a portfolio of individual donors with the capacity to make gifts up to $25,000 or more.
Acts independently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems.
Does not supervise any staff but may manage work of peers on departmental project teams.
Ensures compliance with TNC policies and procedures and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements.
Financial responsibility includes meeting fundraising objectives, working within a budget, and negotiating and contracting with vendors, if needed.
Manages projects with several variables, sets realistic deadlines, manages a timeline, and ensures accountability.
Persuasively conveys the mission of TNC to diverse groups who are important to the organization’s overall prosperity.
Travels and works overtime, as needed.
Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.
Works within scope of program’s strategic goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination.
Experience in identifying, soliciting and stewarding donors with giving levels of $1,000-$25,000, or more.
Experience in managing individual donation renewals and elevating annual gifts.
Experience in grant-writing, correspondence and donor reporting.
Experience in handling sensitive and confidential information.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
Ability to determine an individual’s interests, capacity and potential for helping the Conservancy meet its goals, and act appropriately to tie those interests with the Conservancy’s work.
Ability to implement and coordinate fundraising plans, including individualized cultivation, solicitation, and recognition plans.
Experience building relationships with donors, volunteers, and staff.
Experience in organizing donor events and managing and tracking prospects and donors.
Experience, coursework, or other training in fundraising principles and practices.
Knowledge of current trends in charitable giving.
Working knowledge of the basics of charitable gift planning.
Commitment to conservation and environmental protection.
Warm and welcoming personality with good interpersonal communication skills.
