The House of Commons Administration is currently looking for young, aspiring professionals to staff multiple positions as part of its 2022 Student Employment Program.
The Organization:
The House Administration supports Members of Parliament, providing them with the services, infrastructure and advice they need to carry out their work as legislators and representatives in the Chamber, in committees, in caucus and in their offices, both on Parliament Hill and in their constituencies.
About the Role:
The objective of the House of Commons Administration’s Student Employment Program is to provide meaningful and rewarding employment opportunities to young, aspiring professionals who are in high school, CEGEP, college, or university. If you are a high school or post-secondary student, we invite you to apply to come work where history is made!
As one of our talented students, you will work within one of nine service areas across the House Administration in a wide range of fields such as: Administrative support, client service, accounting, commerce, procurement and contracting, communications, graphic/web design, architecture, interior design, engineering, computer science, data science, information management, broadcasting/audio-visual support, corporate security, law, compensation, talent management, occupational health and safety, labour relations, trades, and culinary arts.
You will gain valuable work experience in a welcoming, bilingual and inclusive environment. You will bring fresh perspectives by networking and collaborating with fellow students and colleagues. You will also develop new skills, competencies and expand your knowledge, helping you to improve your post graduation employability.

Prerequisites
Education
Current enrolment as a full-time student at a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution. A specific level of education and/or year of study may be required for certain positions;
Enrolment as a full-time or part-time student in the next academic year. Preference may be given to students enrolled in full-time studies at the time of hiring.
Asset
Fluency in both official languages (English and French).
Specific Requirements
Minimum age of 16;
Canadian citizenship, permanent residency or a valid study permit (for international students).
Competencies
Candidates will be evaluated against House of Commons Administration Competency Framework – Administrative Support.
Outcome
The purpose of the Student Employment Program is to provide full-time or part-time employment opportunities to high school, college, and university students across all service areas of the House of Commons Administration. Post-secondary students hired to work during the summer months will work full-time (35 hours per week) approximately from early May until the end of August, and may be rehired to work part-time during the academic year in accordance with operational needs.
Essential Information
**Effective November 22, 2021, all individuals entering the Parliamentary Precinct are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID 19, unless accommodated based on a medical contraindication. Individuals are considered to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 fourteen (14) days after they have received the recommended doses of one vaccine or combination of vaccines approved by Health Canada.
**As part of the application process, candidates will be asked to identify their vaccination status. The successful candidates must show proof of vaccination, or medical contraindication.
**In the event that a candidate is selected to be assessed on-site, proof that they are fully vaccinated will be required along with government issued ID at that time.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and further to public health guidelines, preventative measures are being taken to ensure health and safety during the recruitment process.
