You’ll have the support of your organization, excellent compensation, as well as great benefits – and the advantage of working at the highest level of your field.Job Summary: Under the direction of the Manager of System Finance and Accountant III, the Accountant II is responsible for organizing and implementation of certain financial functions related to the System and its entities general ledgers as well as preparing balance sheets and statements of operations,. The System Accountant II utilizes an advanced level of accounting knowledge regarding practices and concepts to accomplish tasks. The position requires independent judgment and analysis.Develops and maintains the financial records for all of Benefis Health Systems (BHS) entities, affiliatesand/or other unrelated entities, including preparation of journal entities, adjustments, preparation of monthly financial statements and reconciliation of accounts.Assists independent third party and regulatory auditors in conducting audits from preparation of documentation used by the auditors through final audit.Identifies the data required and the internal/external means to gather that data. Prepares quantitative analyses within required deadlines and maintains financial policies and procedures.Assists with System-wide capital and operating budgets.Assists with grant reporting, including computation of annual indirect cost, semiannual federal financial status reporting, request draw downs of grant funds, and reconciliation of grantsActs as a financial resource for operational departments to assist in understanding financial information to help them make the best business decisions possible.Completes accurate financial questionnaires, surveys, and reports for customers by stipulated deadlines.Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality.May Include:Oversight for payroll and accounts payable processing.Responsible for the collection and compilation of benefit plan information and internal reporting, financial audit work paper documentation and preparation of all related tax returns.Responsible for collection of current monthly departmental statistics for financial reporting and determination that reported statistics are accurate.Performs year end inventory and reconciles petty cash counts.Responsible for maintaining fixed assets for System to include additions and retiring of assets as well as calculating and posting depreciation.Performs other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations.Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.Qualifications: A combination of 4 years of finance/accounting education and 2 years of work experience.
