Job Description : Do you have financial management expertise and are you skilled at providing financial analysis and reporting services? If so, consider this opportunity with the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, Finance and Administration Branch as an Accounting and Reporting Analyst within the Controller’s Office.

What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:
conduct financial analysis as part of monthly, quarterly and annual reportingprovide financial information and business and financial solutions to controllership issuesco-ordinate and participate in projects and use expertise to provide excellent customer service to clients on financial policies, procedures and issuesprovide quality assurance and leadership to co-ordinate and participate in projects with ministry and external partners to develop and implement new business and financial processesevaluate changes to existing business processes, determine financial implications and plan and develop recommendations for improvementreview accounting activities and transactions to ensure compliance with appropriate policies and practicesprepare ministry annual financial statements for inclusion in the Provincial Public Accountsprovide centralized accounting/reporting advice and support to ministry management and staff on financial management and reporting processes to meet requirements of Treasury Boardanalyze and summarize relevant financial information from various sources, including the ministry’s financial information systems, for presentation to managementdevelop, implement, and maintain financial systems and processes
How do I qualify?
Financial Knowledge and SkillsYou have thorough knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, Public Sector Accounting Board standards and financial management control principles and practices to provide support to Ministry financial processes and practices.You can support the development and maintenance of effective information and reporting processes to ensure the integrity of financial information.You can use strong analytical skills to perform financial management analysis and provide recommendations.You have knowledge of government financial management, control and reporting policies, processes and requirements, including capital accounting knowledge.You can acquire knowledge of ministry programs, policies, and business direction in order to assess and analyze financial information and trends and to provide support and reports.You have demonstrated knowledge of computer technology, standard desktop software and computer systems for financial reporting to analyze financial data and generate reports.
Communication, Interpersonal and Relationship Management SkillsYou have well developed oral and written communication skills to prepare financial analysis, briefing notes, business processes develop presentations and training materials.You have presentation skills and can support the development and delivery of training.You can provide accounting and financial management advisory services and present briefings and recommendations to management.You can exercise good judgement and tact when dealing with people.You can provide quality customer service to meet the needs of customers and provide support within a team in a challenging environment.
Analytical and Problem-Solving SkillsYou have analytical and mathematical skills to prepare and interpret financial reports and documents.You can conduct financial analysis and prepare/confirm the accuracy of financial statements.You can apply recognized financial/accounting methods, policies and procedures to meet financial reporting requirements.You can analyze, interpret and assess financial reports and prepare consolidated financial statements.You can review internal systems and accountability frameworks to ensure they fully support the integrity of the financial information.You can interpret and apply financial policies and processes to resolve issues.You can organize and coordinate a variety of projects, establish priorities and manage issues and conflicting priorities to meet deadlines.
