Job Description : Keeping Ontario’s Legislative Assembly running smoothly takes many talented people, doing many different jobs—from camera operators and committee clerks, to purchasing officers and researchers. The Office of the Assembly is dedicated to serving Ontario’s Parliament.

Together, we provide non-partisan administrative and procedural services to all MPPs, as well as operational support for the daily activities of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Administrative Assistant
The Legislative Assembly of Ontario seeks an Administrative Assistant, who, as part of our Parliamentary Protocol and Public Relations Branch, in Toronto, ON, will provide reception, customer service, clerical support and day-to-day support of the administrative operations of the Branch.

What can I expect to do in this role?
You’ll act with integrity to:

Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in a non-partisan support role

Exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgement in a fast-paced, politically sensitive environment when dealing with MPPs, staff of the Legislative Assembly, the general public, and other external clients

You’ll support our collaboration as you:

Provide reception and customer service to internal and external stakeholders of the Legislative Assembly

Process all incoming documents as required

Maintain and monitor the inventory of office supplies, assets and equipment

Process invoices and reconcile expenditures, as well as maintain and update the office filing system

Perform general office duties and special projects

How do I qualify?
You demonstrate excellence through your:
Completion of some post-secondary education or training, equivalent to 1-year of college

Related experience with knowledge of office administrative procedures

Excellent telephone manner and communication skills

Verbal and written fluency in English

Knowledge of the Ontario legislature and an understanding of the Ontario government structure

Knowledge of computer technology systems and software applications

Strong organizational skills with an ability to multi-task and work under tight timeframes

Proficiency in French is considered an asset
