Job Description : Bring your strong communication, research and analytical skills to this role with the Conservation and Energy Efficiency Branch where you will support the development and analysis of policy initiatives related to energy efficiency and conservation in Ontario.

The Branch is part of the Conservation and Renewable Energy Division in the Ministry of Energy. Our division supports the government’s priorities to provide a clean, reliable and resilient energy supply for Ontario and support innovation. We work closely with energy agencies and key stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of energy efficiency and conservation initiatives and integration of renewable generation and distributed energy resources into Ontario’s energy system.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
Research, review and collect information from various sources and develop research scope and timelines for research projectsConduct data analysis and evaluate information and data to identify opportunities for standards updates and key issuesPrepare information, presentations, and outreach packages and materials for internal and external use to communicate policy/program changesMaintain awareness of new policy initiatives through the monitoring of provincial, national and international trends/developments related to the energy sector
How do I qualify?
Business Knowledge and Skills:You have general knowledge of program and policy development principles, legislation and decision making processesYou have an understanding of current and emerging energy efficiency trends and technologiesYou are able to guide and support work on codes and standards and their impact on energy conservation and environmentYou are able to analyze the economic, environmental, legal and political issues influencing policy development in the energy sector
Research and Analytical Skills:You are able to plan and coordinate projects and initiatives including the delivery of key milestones supporting projects across multi-disciplinary teams,You can apply research and analytical techniques including literature and inter-jurisdictional reviews and survey techniquesYou are able to conduct research and analysis of multiple sources of information, prepare statistical analyses, and interpret technical research data/information
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:You have oral and written communication skills to respond to information requests, provide information/updates to senior staff and management, make presentations, organize Webinars/meetings and coordinate requests and responses across multi-disciplinary teamsYou are able to write reports, prepare analyses, draft correspondence, briefing notes and policy documents
You have consultation skills to exchange information, discuss issues, gain support and liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including other jurisdictions
Computer Skills:You can use computer applications to operate computer models and manipulate dataYou are proficient with word processing, spreadsheets, project scheduling and internet to research and prepare reports
