AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Reporting to the Manager, IT Service Management, the IT Asset Analyst will oversee the daily and long-term management of software and technology-related hardware, software and licenses for the IT Shared Services within the City of Brampton organization. This includes monitoring, recording software licenses and/or hardware assets to ensure compliance with vendor contracts and quality control throughout their lifecycles. The Asset Analyst will develop and implement procedures for procuring & tracking company assets for the IT Division and educate other IT staff on the procedures to ensure Asset Management compliance. They will act as the focal point for other IT staff on the direction on the complete Asset lifecycle of hardware assets, software asset reconciliation, audits and tracking for the IT Division.
Effectively own and maintain the accuracy of the Asset Management Database.
Facilitate all asset allocation and relocation activity with relevant services teams.
Responsible for the safe keeping, control and security of unassigned and roto-stock assets.
Ensure all software and hardware serial numbers or identification tags are maintained in a configuration management system (CMS) and ensure information is up-to-date, accurate, and auditable.
Validate automated asset discovery with the asset repository/CMDB and to ensure information is up-to-date, accurate, and auditable.
Responsible for the development and analysis of standard operating procedures for the asset management lifecycle of City of Brampton IT equipment
Establish policies and procedures for inventorying, tracking assets, and reporting on information technology related assets.
Formulate and implement processes and procedures for tracking and analyzing technical and financial data of company software, hardware, and equipment from requisition through retirement.
Act as the primary City of Brampton annual asset refresh team lead and provide direction to staff. Ensure that expiring assets are identified, special needs systems are isolated and managed appropriately and that new assets are appropriately managed.
Manages, plans and coordinates assets for disposal
Coordinate the review, validation and execution of asset related requests to ensure business requirements are met in compliance with corporate IT guidelines.
Coordinate and execute all asset procurement and allocation activities with the client service group.
Create custom reports as required.
Responsible for ordering and tracking of all IT assets and acts as a liaison for vendors of IT hardware and software devices and their respective licensing agreements.
Manage and execute the receiving, registering, and preparation of new assets for deployment.
Create cost, validation and analysis reports to ensure accuracy of inventory, hardware and software.
Audit and perform inventories and usage monitoring of all IT assets and record all findings, changes, physical location, and incidences of support.
Responsible for all end computing technology and software, may be incl/not inclusive of mobile tech
Ensures that full recovery of Software licenses are utilized and re-issued in the environment through tracking.
Conduct and report software asset reconciliation and audit activities on a timely basis, including financial, licensing, warranty, and maintenance/support contract information.
Provide direction to Client Support / PC Specialists as required to resolve asset related incidents or requests.
Liaise with internal and external resources to ensure maximum adherence to Asset Management processes is achieved.
Will be required to lift heavy equipment up to 50 lbs (printers, scanners, Tower PCs, UPSs) on a regular basis.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
High school (Grade 12) graduation plus an additional program of over one and up to two years in Information Technologies Support Services, Computer Networking and Technical Support or equivalent.
Over two (2) years, up to and including four (4) years experience in asset management or related field.
Hardware and/or Software Asset Management Certification preferred (CITAM, CHAMP, etc)
ITIL v.3 Certification preferred
Must be able to lift heavy equipment up to 50lbs
Strong familiarity and technical competence with asset management software and/or inventory-tracking systems, such as Remedy, Frontrange, etc.
Strong familiarity with software and hardware discovery tools and their capability
Demonstrated experience in leading or participating in an IT Asset Management
Understanding of IT asset management lifecycle processes
Strong skills using the suite of Microsoft Office products (advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred)
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and function in fast paced, deadline driven environment.
