Job Description : Montessori Assistant/Floater This position requires a person who possesses love, patience and respect for children. The ideal candidate will assist the classroom teacher to encourage the children to be independent and model for them appropriate manners and behaviors. She/he will help support staff with various duties and to help children with activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth. They will be performing the following duties:· Support the classroom teacher to provide the children with a “prepared environment” which includes making materials to support the individual needs within the classroom· Help the Classroom teacher create individual and/or group activities to stimulate growth of the children in social, emotional and academic areas.· Allow children to be as independent as possible· Care of the environment and self· Encourage individual work time to promote independence as well as group work to promote socialization.· Help the classroom teacher identify, select and modify work in the room to meet the needs of children with varying backgrounds, learning styles and special needs.· Follows the behaviour guidance guidelines as well as all of our full school policies and procedures· Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents and co-workers.· Participate in all open houses and school programs.· Responsible for diaper changing and/or assisting with toileting while demonstrating respect and maintaining independence for the child.· Clean and sanitize throughout the day· Maintains a high level of professionalism at all times· Follows and implements health and safety through the uses of a variety of tools including daily observations forms, sanitary practices forms, medication forms, and the environmental assessment tools· Performs other duties as assigned· Maintains knowledge, skills and abilities through on-going education and attends professional development courses and workshopsPart-time hours: 30 per weekExpected start date: 2021-07-12Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, CasualSchedule:On callCOVID-19 considerations:Anyone entering the building must be screened, staff must wear masks and face shields, and we follow all Peel Public Health and Ministry of Education health regulations.Application question(s):Have you previously worked in child care?Work remotely:No
