Hiring Range – $8,850 – $9,961 Monthly

About the Position:

The City of Grand Junction is looking for a collaborative and thoughtful City Clerk to join our Executive Team. Our Executive Team is comprised of dedicated, hands-on managers who are passionate about public service. The City Clerk will provide executive leadership within the organization, and work with all departments to uphold and foster our culture of continuous improvement, collaborative partnerships, and exceptional customer service.

About the City Clerk’s Office:

The City Clerk’s Office maintains the City’s official records, the City’s Code of Ordinances, conducts municipal elections, oversees the liquor licensing program and cannabis licensing program, prepares for and staffs City Council meetings, and coordinates the recruitment, application, and appointment processes for the City’s boards and commissions.

Duties

What You’ll Do:

Serve as Clerk to the City Council, Secretary to the municipal corporation, Secretary to the Board of Directors of the Dos Rios General Improvement District, and Member of the Director Team.
Administer, prepare, and coordinate all City elections in accordance with state and local laws.
Develop goals, objectives, policies and priorities for the department; prepare, present and administer the departmental budget.
Evaluate the results of overall operations and service levels and provide regular reports to the City Manager.
Coordinate and prepare agendas for all City Council meetings and workshops.
Record and maintain proceedings (minutes) of all regular City Council meetings; coordinate the broadcasting and streaming of Council meetings.
Maintain custody of City Seal and execute official City documents.
Maintain records such as ordinances and resolutions; mail or publish all official and legal notices.
Oversee the liquor licensing program and the cannabis licensing program.
Provide staff support to City’s Liquor Licensing Authority, Cannabis Licensing Authority, and other committees or task forces.
Coordinate the recruitment, application and appointment processes for the City’s boards and commissions.
Respond to inquiries for information about City government operations and City Council legislation and decisions.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

Five (5) or more years of professional experience working in a City Clerk’s Office or other related public administration experience.
Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, records management, political science, or closely related field.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Certified Municipal Clerk certification.
Possession or, or ability to obtain, Master Municipal Clerk certification.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, Notary Public Commission.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver’s License.

Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
