Business & Financial Services Division’s (BFSD) mission is to provide professional services in operational areas critical to the efficient and effective management of the Department. The Office of Procurement and Contracts, within the Business Services and Internal Support Bureau, provides the general and specific oversight of the decentralized procurement function for the Department of Public Health & Human Services.
Overview
The Collections Specialist within Accounts Receivable performs collection enforcement activities to collect outstanding liabilities owed to the department; contacts customers regarding delinquencies and applicable policies and statutes; provides document review, process control, investigation, and related support services; and performs paralegal procedures related to legal collection of accounts. The position reports to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor and does not supervise other staff.

Qualifications:
What You Can Offer Us
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices; excellent spreadsheet skills including report formats.
Sound judgement, decision making, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent customer service, verbal and written communications skills.
Ability to evaluate priorities and multitask accordingly to meet deadlines under time constraints,
Ability to work with accounting systems and operate personal computer and general office equipment.
Ability to analyze and solve complex problems; consider the relative costs and benefits of actions.
Meet minimum qualifications:
Associates Degree in accounting, business, public administration, finance or other related area.
Three years of experience in law enforcement, investigation debt collection, or credit and finance. Must include customer service experience.
Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
