Position : Community Service Worker – Housing Services
Job Description : Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Community Services Worker provides a range of support services to applicants, clients and tenants which support the delivery of Community Services programs, including but not limited to Children’s Services, Housing Services and Ontario Works.What you’ll doReview application details for assistance/support/subsidy and determine eligibilityComplete unit inspectionsComplete Electronic Fund Transfer details to ensure collection of rent monies where appropriateRespond to general inquiries (phone, email, fax etc.)Perform administrative duties ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all timesWork with Finance to reconcile financial components (including calculate rent payments, repayments, reimbursements and refunds when required)Liaise with community agencies regarding shared clientsInteract effectively with clients, including those with mental health and/or substance abuse issues as well as clients who have cultural or language barriersQuickly assessing emergency situations (evictions, utility arrears, not enough funds for food, medication etc.)Participate in ongoing training to ensure up to date working practices for compliance with municipal and provincial requirementsWhat you’ll bringPost-secondary certificate or diploma in Social Services, Human Services or a related fieldMinimum two (2) years experience in Human Services fieldKnowledge of various income security programs, provincial funding and operational guidelinesStrong organizational, analytical, problem solving and multi-tasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines and assess prioritiesKnowledge of crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques.Ability to engage a wide variety of people with a high level of professionalism and courtesy including culturally, socially and economically diverse populations, seniors, persons with disabilities and professional colleaguesValid Class G driver’s license and access to reliable transportation requiredMust provide clear criminal reference check including vulnerable sector screeningSuitable work from home environment including reliable high-speed internetJob Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $40.21-$47.04 per hourBenefits:Casual dressCompany pensionDental careDisability insuranceEmployee assistance programExtended health careLife insuranceOn-site parkingPaid time offVision careWork from homeSchedule:Monday to FridayApplication deadline: 2022-04-08
