POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the development and direction of Rhino Racks Continuous Improvement Program.
This position includes the general responsibility for improving manufacturing, assembly, and warehouse processes, equipment, warehouse and assembly layouts, and providing operations support. Leads process improvement activities to include: process documentation, training, cultural initiatives, in-process defect reduction, scrap reduction, set-up / changeover reduction, productivity improvement, and overall improvement in OEE.
Working to develop and improve manufacturing operations analytics related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. Working with Operations personnel to organize and execute Kaizen event’s related to gaps in the metrics. This position will also be responsible for supporting Safety and Quality and fill in with other areas and projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: B.S. in Industrial, Operational Management, or equivalent.Preferred: Master’s in Operations, Business, Engineering or equivalent.
Work Experience
Required: 3+ years’ experience in a Manufacturing Warehouse Operations rolePreferred: 5+ years’ experience in a Manufacturing Warehouse Operations role
Skills and general experience: Previous experience working in a Manufacturing Warehouse Operation. Proven Lean and Process improvement experience. Working knowledge of accounting and finance as it relates to a Manufacturing Operation. Self-directed with the ability to manage projects ranging from small hands-on Kaizen projects to defining strategic initiatives. Experience with warehousing and assembly processes preferred. MS Office proficiency required. Strong Microsoft Excel capability. Ability to communicate effectively with personnel ranging from entry level operators to executive level managers. Ability to lead and influence people. Knowledge of Quality Systems and ISO requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Authorized and responsible to continuously improve upon and perform all duties according to the Rhino Rack Quality, Safety and Employee Policies and procedures:
Responsible to achieve process improvement goals as determined by the Operations Management group.
Lead, Coach, and Mentor manufacturing and warehouse operations on continuous improvement activities, lean processes and production improvement activities.
Facilitates regular hands-on Kaizen events including and organizing personnel from manufacturing, engineering, QA, and operations. Organizing regular meetings to follow up on progress and results.
Establish a Kaizen program that show’s completion, follow up, and results of Kaizen activities.
Responsible for publishing of continuous improvement activities and results. Ensuring documentation of improvement activities for future reference.
Provides support to Process Engineering related to machinery and process improvements.
Regularly examining outside best practices from industry that can be implemented for improvement.
Working with Supervisors to regularly examine improvement opportunities. Regularly meeting to brainstorm future state possibilities and projects related to the improvement of Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery.
Lead or coordinate Lean or process improvement related training events for internal personnel.
Additional duties as assigned.
KEY ELEMENTS TO SUCCESS
Facilitates manufacturing, logistics, and business process Kaizen events
Develop, update, and own the continuous improvement processes, metrics, and any associated tools
Participates in tactical planning for the continuous improvement work to be done in concert with CI Manager and leadership
Contributes to the development and promotion of standard work and production basics across the organization
Uses knowledge of waste elimination tools and techniques to identify clinical and operational opportunities for improvement
Responsible for proposing and managing projects including tracking costs, assessing resources, and achieving deadline requirements
Perform value stream analysis for the warehouse / assembly
Understands and supports training of the Lean Production System
Understands and makes corrective action derived from OEE performance
Facilitate Kaizen events directed at reducing setup times, scrap, and improving SQDC measures.
Improves manufacturing layouts and research options for process and product flow.
Performs time studies and equipment utilization studies.
Assists operations with difficult troubleshooting problems in the warehouse and assembly areas.
Supports investigation and implementation of counter measures to any internal and external quality or safety concerns.
Performs activities in a positive and professional manner.
Maintains an acceptable attendance record to ensure timely work completion.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
