Job Description : JOB DESCRIPTION
_ POSITION TITLE: Controller**_

_ POSITION OVERVIEW: **_
Manages the direction of the accounting functions including accounts payable, cost accounting, and financial reporting.The Controller manages development and maintenance of planning and budgeting systems, the preparation of financial and management reports and procedures, and the presentation of findings and specific recommendations to senior management. The Controller is the head financial representative and contact for clients and management.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
1. Provides oversight of timely completion of the monthly/quarterly close process, assuring compliance with GenerallyAccepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies and requirements; coordinates and manages integration of various financial system data to meet reporting requirements.
2. Prepares and coordinates monthly and quarterly financial statements, data, and variance analysis for internal reporting.
3. Prepares and coordinates additional financial reporting and analysis such as rolling financial estimates, annual budget preparation, and annual reporting requirements.
4. Oversees the preparation, reconciliation, and submission of certain entries into General Ledger (GL) system; maintains the chart of accounts in accordance with company procedure.
5. Creates and presents reports to management on accounting activity including customized financial reports to meet changing business needs.
6. Participate in special projects as deemed necessary by management.
7. Understand and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or coworkers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
8. Other duties may be assigned.
9. Oversees job costing functions of projects
10. Works with management and Human Resources on Employee benefits and 401(k) compliance
11. Maintains and works with management on A/R aging and collections
12. Works with project management regarding job set up and progress billing.
13. Manage and coordinate Sale tax reconciliations with vendors
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Controller will have a staff accountant as a direct report
Will assist and manage escalated Billing and payroll discrepancies

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE ‘REQUIRED’ FOR THE JOB:

Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentage, to practical situations
Ability to use tact and skill in dealing with other staff, management and vendors
Ability to compose effective and efficient accounting reports
Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program
Proficiency in Accounting software usage and function

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES THAT ARE ‘PREFERRED’ FOR THE JOB:

CMA or CPA certification
Accounting in Concrete and/or Construction industry a plus
Experience with Foundation Accounting Software a plus

EDUCATION (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance and eight (8) years accounting/finance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
