Job Description : Associated Youth Services of Peel is an accredited, not – for – profit charitable organization, supporting children, youth and families with in mental health and/or in the Youth Justice System. We are a compassionate team of professionals dedicated to helping children, youth and families manage mental health and/or justice issues to realize their potential. AYSP provides a client-centred, strength-based approach to engage all children, youth, and families in a manner which is culturally sensitive, non-judgmental and respectful. Working together with our service partners using a multi-systems perspective, AYSP provides services that are evidence-based and evidence-informed.

We are currently seeking a Coordinator to join our Diversion program. Services provided in the Diversion Program are mainly office and court-based, however, services may occasionally be virtual, based on client need or exceptional circumstances. Ideal candidates should be passionate about serving youth and families, be flexible and have superior interpersonal and communication skills.

Hours of Work: 35 hours a week (Days & Evenings)

Responsibilities:

Provide alternative, community-based responses to deal more effectively with young people in contact with the Youth Court and police and to provide services mandated by the Youth Criminal Justice Act
Respond to referrals from Crown Attorney’s office for Extra Judicial Sanctions and Peel Regional Police for Extra Judicial Measures
Provide information to clients, caregivers and others regarding the Extra Judicial Sanctions Program/Extra Judicial Measures Program
Develop new and innovative program sanctions/measures to address the changing needs of the program and clients
Facilitate group and individual programming, as required
Maintain professional documentation, including assessments, case notes, discharge reports and statistical information
Provide statistical information related to the service provided to each youth and participate in program evaluation
Provide training to volunteers who support client and program needs
Establish and maintain professional alliances with collateral agencies/organizations
Work flexible hours related to the needs of the clients, some evening work will be required

Qualifications and Experience:

Undergraduate Degree or Community College diploma in a social science or related field
Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, Provincial Offences Act and the Extra Judicial Sanctions/Extra Judicial Measures Model
Demonstrated ability to work with multi-need clients within the justice system and solid interviewing and assessment skills
Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and provide own transportation

Salary Range: $37,745 – $46,926 yearly
