Job Description : Career Opportunity – Administrative CategoryCOURT PROCESS ASSISTANTAdministrative Job ClassTemporary – 6 months$51,795.29 – $62,154.97 (As of April 1, 2022)TheLegal Services Departmenthas atemporary – 6 monthsposition as aCourt Process AssistantatLegal Servicesfor a self-motivated individual to provide court process services and to work in partnership with branch administrative staff in providing administrative functions when necessary. The successful candidate will report directly to the Supervising Legal Counsel – Floater Counsel in the Legal Services Department.Duties Include: Co-ordinate the preparation of the child protection cases for Family Court Hearings:Maintain a system for ensuring cases are prepared for court as scheduled;Maintain court files of relevant information on each court case;Assist social workers with all aspects of preparing cases for court, including typing of documents, drafting standard documents, editing, formatting and proof-reading;Assist legal counsel and law clerks with the co-ordination and preparation of cases for court;File and seal documents and maintain Continuing Record of Documents at Court;Fax correspondence, court documents for the purpose of reviewing and serving;Serve court documents and/or arrange service of the court documents on client and other professionals in the community;Commission of legal documents;Prepare and type letters;Respond to inquiries from staff, lawyers in the community and clients re: court dates and service of court documents;Provide computer support to Branch Staff including Branch Legal Counsel, in using the court forms on the Lotus Notes system;Work in a safe manner in accordance with the Society’s Health and Safety Policies and procedures and all relevant legislation;Provide other administrative duties in the department as necessary.Qualifications RequiredDemonstrated progressively responsible administrative experience in the above detailed areas;Strong organizational, coordination and time management skills;Demonstrated ability to work independently and interconnectedly with a team and to use initiative in a fast-paced environment characterized by high volume, competing priorities and strict deadlines;Well developed oral and written communications skills with an ability to be concise;Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with individuals and groups from a variety of diverse communities and to resolve conflict in an effective manner;Accurate typing skills;Good capacity for detail;Excellent skills and confident ability in working with a variety of PC applications, including Windows, Lotus Notes, (specifically Lotus Notes Court forms), Microsoft Word 6.0, AS/400 and e-mail;Independent problem-solving abilities;Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and weekends;Ability to perform a diverse range of responsibilities which may include any function assumed by the Administrative Teams;Initiative in identifying and recommending new procedures and systems in a changing work environment;Demonstrated understanding of Society’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and relevant legislation.AssetsLegal Assistant or Law Clerks Diploma.Knowledge of the Child, Family and Youth Services Act and familiarity with the New Family Court Rules.Second language.The successful candidate will be licensed to drive in Ontario and required to be the principal driver of a vehicle for use on Society business.File #22-025 – Please submit your cover letter and resume no later than:Internal Closing Date: Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 11:59PM.External Closing Date: Friday, April 8, 2022 at 11:59PMThe Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto has a COVID-19 vaccination policy in place.
