About the Department of Revenue:
MISSION STATEMENT- To be the nation’s most citizen oriented, efficiently administered, state tax agency.
The Montana Department of Revenue administers almost 40 state taxes, property appraisals, liquor laws, and cannabis law for the state of Montana. The Director’s Office Division provides support for the Director and department employees relating to tax policy, legal, human resources, training, enterprise planning, communications and tax payer assistance, dispute resolution, call center, accounting and budgeting, contracts, facilities and purchasing, and security.
DUTIES
The successful candidate may work from either the Helena office or the Butte field office. The incumbent performs a variety of duties assigned by management. Duties include being the primary contact for internal and external customers and is the primary contact for providing information to customers about unclaimed property that has been escheated to the State of Montana. The incumbent provides information and technical assistance and resolves problems regarding taxes, fees and licenses, eStop business licensing, unclaimed property, business personal property reporting, livestock reporting, and Department web-based filing and payment processes. The position does not supervise other staff.

This position requires the successful completion of a background check and a state tax compliance status check.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
The above competencies are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:
Two years of post-secondary education in business administration, taxation, office management, or a related field; and
One year of directly related work experience with customer service, working with software applications, investigation, auditing, or research and analysis with six months of experience interpreting and applying Montana rules and regulations.
Other combinations of education and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis.
