BHG Re provides the most collaborative and supportive culture where you can learn and grow.About the RoleThis position is responsible for ensuring that key data sources booked to the Berkshire Hathaway Group Reinsurance systems (including client reporting) is accurate, complete and up to date and correctly reflects the underlying business being ceded. The incumbent will apply data principles and their understanding of our business to strengthen data standards and processes, and improve efficiency and effectiveness of business processes that use client reported data. They will coordinate with clients, and our Administration and Valuation functions to assess adequacy of premium, establishment of reserves and perform various studies. The successful candidate will be highly organized, ambitious and a team player with very strong analytical skills. They will be a quick learner who thrives on challenge and loves working with data and people.Job Responsibilities (includes but not limted to): Use data mining, model building, and other analytical techniques to support internal data initiatives and validate data integrity;Coordinate with various groups to ensure that client reported data (e.g. premium, policy transactions) entering financial reporting databases and systems is correct;Work collaboratively with management and users to gather requirements, build relationships and solve complex data problems;Assess the functionality and data quality of the internal data warehouse and recommend improvements to increase the completeness, accuracy, efficiency and usefulness of the data warehouse;Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in large datasets;Identify opportunities to improve processes and strategies, including developing reports to assist with data analysis;In coordination with the Administration and Valuation teams, work with clients to improve data quality, including providing recommendations for changes to electronic data loading processes;Partner with the Valuation team to understand how data is used in actuarial models and improve the accuracy, completeness and usefulness of client data feeds supporting actuarial processes;Partner with the electronic data team to develop specifications for new data fields required for the data warehouse and liaise with IT to develop technical specifications and implement.Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in analytics, statistics, computer science or an equivalent area of study;5+ years’ experience in developing, implementing and maintaining data analysis systems;5 + years working in the financial services industry – life insurance and/or reinsurance experience is preferred (including FLMI designation);Advanced knowledge of Excel, Access, SQL and Tableau with hands on experience with analyzing large datasets;Experience with developing and/or programming applications and automated processes;Experience partnering with IT and project teams to provide business requirements for technology and data solutions;Excellent verbal and written skills;Actuarial experience would be an asset.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: From $1.00 per hourBenefits:Company pensionDental careEmployee assistance programExtended health careLife insurancePaid time offVision careSchedule:Monday to FridayExperience:insurance/reinsurance: 5 years (preferred)
