Position : Data Center Engineering Assistant
Job Description : Job Summary: This position is responsible for the management of a data center facility. Responsible for SOC compliance including physical security, availability, and confidentiality. Oversees equipment maintenance, inventory, customer service and employee training.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees all aspects of the 24/7/365 mission critical operations of the data center.
Responsible for the maintenance of all data center systems including power, cooling and other infrastructure.
Develops, maintains and tests a disaster recovery plan for the facility.
Maintains emergency support contact information and oversees support and service contracts.
Ensures SOC and PCI compliance. Coordinate activities with compliance agencies and works with auditors to maintain certification.
Develops policies and procedures as required to ensure smooth operation of the facility.
Maintains data center security.
Maintains a safe environment. Ensures there is no clutter, obstructions or other safety hazards in the space.
Maintains a presentable facilities cable plant adhering to telco-grade standards.
Develop and implement customer support processes.
Acts as a key customer contact.
Provides training as needed to other Nemont employees involved in supporting the data center.
Reports key metrics on data center access & operations to management and to external customers as required.
Responsible for physical security.
Assist in budget planning and management.
Manages onboarding of colocation customers.
Creates strategies for cost effective operations, manages expenses and continually works to reduce the total cost of ownership.
Provides information for accurate billing and supports collection efforts.
Performs low level customer technical support such as password resets and non admin related setups
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management or a related field; or equivalent work experience
Understanding of facilities and facilities maintenance
In-depth knowledge of power and cooling systems
In-depth knowledge with SOC standards
Understanding of IT systems
Understanding of cloud-computing environments
Understanding of LAN/WAN networking systems
Physical Demands
Sits at desk most of working day.
Stands and walks short distances in office.
Walking up to one mile in rough terrain
Handles books, papers, and office equipment.
May be required to lift and carry weights up to 25 pounds.
Special Demands
May require irregular hours.
