Job Summary:
Share our commitment to improve the lives of individuals and families in need throughout Colorado by taking an integrated approach to delivering comprehensive support services. This position is responsible for existing volunteer services and the development and implementation of the strategic direction and growth of the volunteer program. The Director is the frontline liaison for JFS volunteers and is responsible for coordinating, organizing, and strengthening relationships to ensure meaningful experiences for individual and corporate volunteerism and engagement. This position supervises two employees and a cohort of 1,800 exceptional volunteers. This position serves on the collaborative Executive Management team and reports to the Chief Advancement Officer.

Qualifications:
Education:
BA degree preferred.
Experience:
Must have previous experience as a volunteer coordinator or management experience with a large organization and volunteer program of 1,000+.
Previous supervisory experience helpful.
Experience working with multiple and competing program areas and departments beneficial.
The ability to communicate a high degree of enthusiasm and support is crucial to the success of this position.
Other:
Must have own transportation, valid driver’s license, and insurance.
Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and CRM/volunteer management platforms are required.
Hybrid work opportunity with mix of in-office and remote work environment.
Responsibilities:
Develops and implements department strategic vision, strategic plan, and operational goals to ensure effective resource deployment, robust volunteer engagement, and meaningful partnerships between JFS and its volunteers.
Collaboratively work with various JFS staff in different program areas and departments to effectively develop individual and corporate volunteer opportunities that meet the needs of the agency while also providing meaningful volunteer engagement and logistical support.
Routinely and authentically communicate, engage, and educate volunteers to ensure their success as JFS ambassadors.
Recruit, interview, and schedule volunteers, conduct background and reference checks as required. In conjunction with program staff, train and supervise volunteers.
Provide appropriate volunteer orientation, JFS overviews, in-person and virtual trainings, follow-up, appreciation, and recognition.
Share a commitment to data integrity that properly tracks and reports on volunteer activities across
Troubleshoot any issues that arise involving volunteers. Recommend strategies to reduce or eliminate future issues.
Strengthen recruitment activities to ensure a pipeline of robust volunteers are available.
Serve as a thought-leader for volunteers and volunteerism at JFS utilizing innovative and time-tested best practices in volunteer management.
Ensure all personnel functions are administered including hiring, orientation, training, and employee performance evaluation.
Responsible for budgetary oversight for the volunteer program.
