Other Things You’ll Do
Operate furnace from the control panel properly while maintain safe procedures at all times
Understand emissions trends and data and make process changes as needed to ensure environmental compliance
Review slag analysis and adjust flux additions and injection practices accordingly
Understand the consteel and EAF procedures in order to perform job correctly
Follows level 2 melt schedules, and run appropriate melting profiles
Utilize EAF process trends for trouble shooting
Coordinate with liquid process helpers and crane operators in the operation and monitoring of the Consteel furnace
Assist in changing of electrodes when needed by operating furnace electrode clamps
Communicate with supervisors, fellow workers, and maintenance personnel about possible production problems, concerns, and needs
What You’ll Do
Monitor furnace and optimize slag foaming conditions
Responsible for controlling and replenishing the inventory of consumables needed on the operations floor
Visually inspect furnace for problems (water leaks, refractory wear, and heel control)
Assist with general housekeeping inside of the plant
Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by following safety rules and regulations at all times including proper wearing of company PPE
Diagnose and remedy complex problems related to EAF and LF performance, incoming power irregularities and substation problems
Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures for the EAF and Caster
