Job Summary:

Resumes are being accepted for the position of Election Assistant within the City Clerk’s Office (6 months from June to November 2022). Reporting to the Manager Information, Privacy and Elections/Deputy City Clerk, the Election Assistant will support essential logistics to ensure a successful 2022 municipal and school board election.
The successful candidate will support the coordination of election supplies, forms and logistical operations on voting days, as well as poll worker training and voting days customer support as needed. They will have excellent organizational skills and a focus on quality customer service and continuous improvement. Guided by the goals and objectives of the City’s Strategic Plan and committed to the Corporate Values of integrity, service, inclusion, wellness and learning, the candidate will aid in the achievement of the Vision for an inclusive, connected and prosperous city.
Your role
Assists with key election projects, including but not limited to election supplies organization, distribution and voting day logistics, election worker recruitment and training materials development.
Assists with election supply inventories and organization, as well as logistics planning for delivery of election supplies on voting days.
Reports to project leads on projects they are involved with.
Responds to inquiries in person, by telephone, mail and e-mail from the public, candidates and election workers related to election matters.
Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Experience related to the duties listed above.
High school diploma or education in a related discipline, such as public administration, an asset.
Experience with inventory management an asset.
Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a demanding environment.
A team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent communications skills (both oral and written) with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, stakeholders and the general public.
Experience working in a municipal government environment an asset.
Experience working with elections an asset.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Adaptable with the ability to work efficiently, independently and with minimal supervision.
Ability to work outside normal business hours, as required.
Rate
$27.25 – $34.07
