Your Opportunity
Stantec seeks a highly motivated Emergency Management Specialist to join us in our growing Mountain West emergency management and community resilience practice with the following preferred locations (Denver, CO, Salt Lake City, UT, Phoenix, AZ, Reno, NV). We are looking for a team member with 2 to 5 years of experience, who has experience working with local government, critical infrastructure, or lifeline utility partners a local government or with a local government to support emergency management programs or activities in a consulting capacity. The ideal candidate would have experience in supporting operational and strategic planning, and capability and capacity building efforts including the development of response and recovery plans and the design and delivery of training and exercises. This opportunity places a high value on collaboration, delivery, and desire to grow. We are looking for a professional consultant with a strong working knowledge of the principles of emergency management and hazard mitigation.
Your Key Responsibilities
Effectively engage and collaborate with our western and national emergency management and community resilience practice to support the execution and delivery of projects that advance community readiness and resilience.
Contribute to the development of high quality and functional planning products and functional tools.
Support the facilitation of client meetings and workshops.
Manage projects at the task-level and demonstrate the ability to grow toward management of larger and more complex projects.
Support client and business development activities including opportunity identification, proposal development, and client development and maintenance.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Strong verbal and written communication skills including experience writing operational and strategic planning documents and developing training and exercise documentation.
Strong inter-personal skills including the ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team and a willingness to be proactive and entrepreneurial with both internal and external partners.
Demonstrated experience working with organizations that align with Stantec’s key markets and services.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and MS SharePoint.
Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, Planning, Public Administration, or a related field.
2-5 years of experience performing emergency management and community resilience-related work for public and/or private sector organizations.
Demonstrated understanding of key emergency management concepts including the National Incident Management System and the Incident Command System.
Demonstrated knowledge of community and infrastructure resilience and recovery planning, processes including hazard mitigation planning.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs. Some travel may be required (approximately 20%), such as meeting attendance or workshops.
