Company Name : AquaRealTime
Location : Boulder, CO 80301
Position : Engineering Biologist for Startup & Work Outdoors
Job Description : Are you a biologist looking to get involved with tech? Or an environmental engineer looking to focus on real world biology? Do you like to work outside?
Every day, 2 million tons of municipal, industrial and agricultural waste are discharged into the world’s water. This waste contaminates our drinking water supplies, can ruin our recreational areas, and is incredibly difficult to mitigate.
AquaRealTime’s mission is to improve the health of our lakes, rivers, and oceans globally, through real time detection of contamination, including Harmful Algal Blooms.
If you’re excited to make a difference in a $17B-$50B global environmental problem caused by climate change and water pollution while learning about the water space and biological sensors, join our team!
Our patent pending solution leverages low cost IOT sensor buoys in waterways and cloud predictive analytics to help stakeholders contain these environmental hazards that kill people and animals, cause degenerative disease, and can close down cities and our recreational areas alike.
We are seeking an experienced, talented, and motivated biologist with electronics experience to help build the next generation of water monitoring systems for outdoor waterways.
You will be working mostly on site at our office in Boulder, but also occasionally travel to perform product installations across the country – most often at beautiful natural sites in recreational areas and drinking water reservoirs. You will be involved with a broad range of responsibilities and will wear many hats.
Perks:
Solve complex problems in a flexible, fun work environment.
Have a direct impact on product development for a Techstars and EPA-backed startup.
Combine working outside with building cutting edge water monitoring systems.
Competitive salary and potential for company equity.
What you’ll be doing:
Hands on building and calibrating our next generation water buoys.
Testing the devices at our two local lakes in the Boulder area.
Interacting directly with customers to ensure smooth onboarding and long-term success.
Co-creating new case studies for marketing material with customers.
Traveling to customer sites for installations.
Troubleshooting and repairing devices.
The successful candidate will need to be able to communicate well with our biologist and hydrologist customers. An understanding of water biology will enable you to gather customer needs and translate them into technology improvements for the team to implement.
You have:
A degree in biology or environmental engineering.
Two years experience as a biologist or engineer.
Manual assembly and electronics skills.
Excellent customer relations skills.
Skills operating small boats and a desire to work outside part of the time.
It would be nice if you have:
Service industry experience.
Customer support and customer success experience.
At AquaRealTime, we believe that diversity improves the team’s productivity and the quality of the work environment.
